Currently Full and Unable to Accept New Clients at this Time. I was a teenager and young adult that experienced unhappiness and anger. I even thought therapy was a bunch of fuckery and wouldn’t help… so I avoided therapy until it was really needed. I wished I got therapy sooner as I found resilience and empowerment to be the best version of myself and that is what I hope to do for you. I primarily work with pre-adolescents, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with various types of trauma, anger,
anxiety
, depression with or without self injurious behaviors and suicidal ideation, all types of addiction.

Your life has not turned out how you had dreamed, hoped, or planned. You are consumed with
anxiety
, depression, trauma, anger, substance use, or loss. You find yourself trying to solve this discomfort by repeating behaviors that provide temporary relief, but ultimately lead you further away from the kind of life you want, and the kind of person you want to be. Instead of stuck, exhausted, desperate, and dissatisfied, you'd like to move through your life with confidence, compassion, clarity, trust, creativity, curiosity, and centeredness. You'd like to finally resolve the hurt or pain you have been carrying inside you.

It reduces depression and

, pain and grief, increases immunity, sense of Self and confidence, a feeling of wholeness and connection to others and more.
I am a transpersonal therapist focused on healing the split associated with trauma. Trauma can disconnect a person from their original truth and create a disconnect in the mind-body and spirit of a person. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and the Inner Counselor are two highly effective approaches I offer. I see clients with
panic
disorder and depression, sexual abuse, abusive relationships, codependency and self-esteem issues and more. Bringing health and balance back around areas that have become compulsions (eating, sex, alcohol, relationships, etc.) is another important part of this personal healing journey.

Are the characters/themes in the latest Pixar film or Netflix show relatable? Do you find yourself connecting your feelings to movies, music, tv, or books? Maybe you're experiencing a recent life change such as a new job, relationship status, recent move, or exploring sobriety, and it sucks doing it alone. Can you relate to the “buzz” of
anxiety
Ted Lasso felt when his “
panic
” crept in. Are you the Nick Miller of the group, struggling with holding boundaries, overthink the little things, or feel you are your own worst enemy? How about Chidi Anagonye, uncertain of all your decisions? You feel motivated, yet unsure of where to start.

I help those feeling
anxiety
and worry develop a greater sense of balance, compassion and connection with themselves and their lives. You’re likely kind and dedicated, but also stressed out and frustrated. Your time may be consumed with school, work, or loved ones, and there’s little time for much else, especially you. You may find yourself wondering and worrying a lot. Wondering if you did or said the right thing. While there’s a lot of good things about your life, there’s a part of you that knows it’s time for some kind of change. Call it your determination, or maybe that little whisper inside. Whatever it is, you're ready.

Life is full, complicated, amazing and sometimes we get a curve ball thrown our way. Though each of us possess the tools and wisdom of healing, it is during those curve balls that we need someone to point out our strength and resilience. As a counselor, I am that someone with a bag of tools to help. You decide where we go, what you want out of counseling, and choose what tools you will use. Those times may come from parenting, substance use, hurting those we love, burn out,
anxiety
, transition, the world around us, not being able to be who we fully are, and questioning life.

Each person comes to the office with unique needs and deserves respect to be heard and understood. Working collaboratively, I offer marriage counseling, along with many other services such as depression and
anxiety
treatment. As an Imago therapist, we recognize that conflict is growth waiting to happen. I often observe growth and healing in people and feel privileged to have accompanied many on their healing journey. By caring for them, I am personally stretched and shaped through their suffering and in turn only deepens my compassion for others. In part, this creates my tapestry that I hope reflects Grace in paying wisdom forward.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
