Born and raised in Apex, North Carolina I feel deeply connected to my community. I chose to enter the field of counseling because of how much I enjoy working with people, and I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to serve this neighborhood. I specialize in working with adolescents, typically ages eleven to twenty one. I know from personal experience as well as my formal education that these are formative years and can be particularly difficult to navigate. I specialize in anxiety, grief, family conflict, self esteem , stress, and spirituality.

*ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS: avail below (updated 5/17)* When in session, I want to foster safe spaces where challenging conversations and vulnerable emotions can be explored and processed, and achievements are celebrated. When stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and other emotional distress occurs, I meet my clients where they are at. Just because we can do something alone, does not mean we have to. Whatever stage of life you are in, let's work through those personal transitions and obstacles. Thus, I believe the best clinical relationships come when both of us are open, curious, and eager for the growth to come from session-to-session.

I specialize in self esteem , emotional loneliness, & communication issues.
Something - some event / loneliness /feeling like a fraud / feeling like something is missing - brought you to look for a resource at this particular time. Wondering "what's wrong with me" What is the message in the difficulty you are having? The answers lie within that message. It is in discovering - or rediscovering - of who you are that you need. It is finding out and getting back to who you genuinely are - only then can you live authentically. Only then can you see your way through. Don't change into someone else. Find - rediscover - your own goodness - your own strengths. Rediscover who YOU are and be that fully.

I garner an intense passion to help women who have experienced trauma gain greater self-esteem, independence, and understanding of their inner power. Additionally, I have a desire to help individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community further explore themselves and how they can live an authentic life that is true to them. I value a strengths-based approach to counseling as each person has ingrained power within themselves that they can harness to achieve personal goals unique to their own counseling journey.

Hello! My passion is working with clients to help them reach their goals of self-love, acceptance, and establishing a life that they love - which looks different for everyone! We will first work to build our therapeutic alliance, then begin to identify and explore cyclical behaviors, patterns, and past experiences that are currently impacting your life. Through the practice of unconditional positive regard, you are completely accepted for wherever you are emotionally - whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, impulsivity, self-esteem, and more. Allow me to meet you where you are and walk alongside you in healing.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
