I believe that each person hold the key to their own journey. Good therapy is a collaborative process, in which the therapist acts as a guide and witness rather than an authority figure or judge. I integrate a variety of tools and approaches in a way that's tailored to support each client's needs.

I have done in-depth work on self-esteem, anger management, and communication.
So grateful you're taking the necessary steps to find a therapist that meets your needs! My belief is that therapy can be a "last resort" for some people. Typically, you have tried to resolve your conflicts or problems on your own and are now seeking additional support. Therapy is more than just a supportive environment though. When I conduct therapy, my work includes identifying the root of the problem, establishing a timeline of the problem and the outcomes it has created, and developing a goal that will establish progress, growth, and empowerment.

I do not believe there is a "typical" client as everyone's situation is unique. I do my best to tailor our sessions to what I believe may help that client the most. Counseling is not a one size fits all or even one size fits most; it is a tailor-fit every time. If you are looking to make a change or take back your life then I would love the opportunity to help make your goals a reality!

I’m originally from Ohio where I attended college and began my counseling practice. I worked in Dallas, TX and Wilmington, NC before settling in Apex, NC. Clients who I see are typically having a hard time with at least one important life issue. They are feeling overwhelmed which is impacting most other parts of their lives. They want to think, feel and do better and that’s what I help them do.

Life doesn’t come with a manual — and even if it did, it probably wouldn’t account for your unique story, struggles, and strengths. Maybe you’re feeling stuck in anxious thoughts, weighed down by grief, or overwhelmed by the day-to-day. Or maybe you’re just not feeling like yourself, and you’re not sure where to begin. That’s okay — you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck in a cycle of anxiety and overthinking? Are you/your teen struggling with self-harm, ADHD, OCD, perfectionism, anxiety, or work/school, or life in general? Maybe you look like you have everything together on the outside, but inside you feel exhausted, behind, or like an imposter. When life starts to feel this heavy, it can be hard to know where to turn. High-achieving and thoughtful individuals tend to put a lot of pressure on themselves but never feel like they’re doing enough. They feel stuck. High expectations and pressure can cause us to “flip the switch” and shut down.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
