Hi I am Kerry! Let’s work together to help you feel better! Are you overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or the lasting effects of trauma? Maybe you're used to being the steady one for others, but lately it’s been harder to keep everything balanced. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, burnout, relationship struggles, ADHD, OCD, or past hurts, I’m here to help. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and family systems theory to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. Together, we’ll work toward clarity, confidence, and a greater sense of emotional balance.

t takes fierce courage to face a past you didn’t choose. When you’ve survived childhood abuse, life can feel like constant survival rather than living. I’m here to help you move from "getting by" to reclaiming your narrative. Licensed in MD, VA, and NC, I specialize in helping survivors deconstruct the echoes of trauma, like anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles, to regain the control that was taken from them. Together, we’ll build somatic and clinical skills to manage triggers and finally enjoy the present. You aren't broken; you are ready to heal. Let’s move forward.

I work with adults to address anxiety, stress, personality disorders, life transitions, and trauma through CBT, DBT, and Narrative Therapy.
My approach to therapy tends to be very flexible and fluid. I want to learn about you from you so we can work together to identify how you might benefit from support. I primarily use Narrative Therapy approaches but tend to weave in other approaches or frameworks to address the person and presentation at hand.

I prefer working through a client-centered lens. My ideal client is someone who is interested in the therapeutic journey and where it may take them. Most of my practice is awareness-based, meaning we work with where we are and take gradual steps towards the client's desired trajectory. With five years of experience on the mental health administration end for client coordination, I've come to accept that all clients deserve treatment and continuity of care. I like to consider myself looking to specialize in stigmatized populations; if you have struggled to find a good fit with a clinician, my goal is to focus on your needs first.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
