Being told to trust the process in talk therapy can be frustrating, finding a somatic therapist that validates the connection between mind and body, can be a more effective way to heal and move forward. If you are dealing with the effects of childhood emotional neglect or trauma, like difficulty trusting others or maintaining relationships, having overwhelming emotions or anxiety, or low energy/ motivation, healing younger parts in therapy can resolve these issues. I use both DBT and Internal Family Systems Therapy to provide a structured and collaborative approach, being transparent about each step of therapy.
Internal Family Systems Therapy, with DBT, focuses on resolving present effects of an unresolved past. I also bring in Expressive Art Therapy exercises for those who wish to visualize concepts, or process feelings through drawing and painting exercises, no art experience is needed.
