I have passion for working with individuals of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds who have experienced trauma. The definition of trauma is subjective, but I believe it to mean any experience that hinders you from functioning in the way you did prior to the experience.

One of the most powerful experiences that a person can have is sitting across from another human being and feeling understood. I approach therapy with a multicultural lens, cognizant of the fact that every person is an individual that has been shaped by their own cultural backdrop (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, spiritual path, etc.). I emphasize the role of the client as the expert on their world; and therapy as a collaboration. Through this collaboration and my understanding of the client as an individual within larger intersecting systems (e.g., family, school), I strive to effect positive therapeutic outcomes.

When human beings experience distress or severe life stressors, it is not unusual for their lives to unravel. My significant desire is creating therapeutic interventions to individuals who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. I help my clients, who include children, adults, and families, to find healthy visions of themselves and aid their relationships. I know that no single method is the right one for every individual, and so I have experience in a range of modalities including TF-CBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing.

My goal in working with you is to hear your story, patiently help you make sense of your confusion and pain, help you create unique coping skills, and build a preferred life worth living. Years ago I worked with cancer patients and their families at a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in South Carolina. Their situations were varied and complex, their physical and emotional pain was deep. As they talked about their pain, hopelessness, worthlessness, loss, anxiety, and uncertainty, together we made sense of their confusion. Likewise, as we work together, I will help you and your challenges in the same caring and skillful way.

I have been working as a psychoanalyst for almost twenty years and understand how challenging it can be to seek help at times. However, as we all need assistance at various moments in our lives, embarking on psychotherapy is an important step. Working with psychoanalysis can help you better understand the past experiences that shaped your character, as well as your future, desires, goals you aspire to achieve and the fears and obstacles you encounter. My goal is to allow client to openly address their levels of fear, depression and issues relating to their disorder. Many factors from past encounters result in high levels of depression and mental health conditions.
