I try to listen and speak in ways that invite you to become curious about who you are (and who you are with others) and how you navigate the world. Painful, automatic ways of being can be reflected upon, talked about, and altered in incremental ways that add up over time. While I respect the part of you that wants to change, I also recognize there’s a part of you that wants to stay the same—and probably for good reasons that also deserve attention.
Psychoanalytic therapy is an opportunity to bring all of this complexity into an unordinary, but genuine relationship with someone who, despite all of their training, is still human. As the process unfolds, it's possible to begin to reflect more deeply on the nature of your difficulties, listen to your desires, and experiment with new ways of being.
I appreciate the courage it takes to open up to a complete stranger. My experience on both sides of the "couch" enables me to help clients feel safe enough to share their experiences and take the necessary risks to develop a more fulfilling life. I enjoy working with people new to therapy and with people who have been in therapy before.
