I enjoy working in a way that is both structured, easy-going and warm. Like Ghandi said, "No-one ever understood a truth about themselves unless it is spoken with kindness." It can be painful facing aspects of our lives that we have previously avoided or self-medicated. However, I do what I can to make this safe and to go at your pace instead of mine. Although it takes a lot of courage to come to therapy and talk about these underlying issues, in the long run, there is an equivalent sense of freedom and connection.
I enjoy learning about and using many psychotherapy techniques, from CBT to EMDR. However, research indicates that the most helpful factor in psychotherapy is the therapeutic relationship. It is a privilege to develop meaningful relationships with my clients and to see people gradually become less symptomatic and happier with themselves.
There are two things I think most people would say about working with me. One is that there is often as much laughter in our sessions as there are tears. And the other is that I will go above and beyond to help them overcome and get through the most difficult things in their lives.
