Starting therapy can be nerve wracking, my goal as your counselor is to create a safe and non-judgmental environment to support you in your therapy goals. I have a passion for working with clients of diverse backgrounds such as sexual, gender, and ethnic minorities. As a counselor with multiple minority identities, I understand the complexities of intersectionality and how these play out in treatment. My goal is to take intentional time to understand your worldview. I have experience working with mental health diagnoses including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I am particularly interested in working with clients with OCD.
I take an eclectic approach to help support unique client needs. I use interpersonal psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and relational therapy to guide treatment. I am trauma and culturally informed. I have a focus on self-acceptance to guide clients in building self-esteem, building secure attachment, and challenging perfectionism.
During sessions, I would describe my style as "chill", supportive, while professional. I find humor and light-heartedness, when appropriate, can be therapeutic and beneficial.
