If you are wondering if there is anything you can do to strengthen yourself and your relationships, there are answers. New coping skills can help you see yourself and your relationships differently, new brain techniques can help resolve old traumas, and current research can bring understanding. It's never too late to look at your life differently and change what's happening in your world.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS, INTERNS/Counselors!! I appeal best with clients who have identified that some aspect of their life has stopped working for them, or never really worked at all. People who seek out a counselor to validate the fact that change is necessary, and desire professional help to collaborate in identifying their own natural strengths (or at least potential capabilities) towards overcoming difficulties just need a personal team player. These people are exciting to work with, from individuals to couples. My hope is that my warm and inviting office atmosphere and my own experience and skills can motivate mental healing .

How to choose the right therapist? Consider asking yourself these questions: What do I need to feel more hope and motivation in my life? Can my relationship be "fixed", or should we move on? Do I feel like I don’t quite fit in and nobody understands me? How do I break free from making the same decisions over and over? Do I wish I had someone to talk to about thoughts, feelings, and behavior I don’t really want anyone to know about?

My main approaches include cognitive-behavioral therapy; extinguishing the negative, psychodynamic; how past can create your present, guided imagery; relaxation techniques and narrative therapy; understanding our stories and how they shape us.
Therapy can be a dynamic experience creating hope and energy. Facing challenges and grieving losses we inevitably face is a powerful step in moving toward a more satisfying present. I view therapy as a collaboration with you to create your transformation and growth. Our past experiences shape our view of ourselves and in turn our potential in the future. I hope to assist you to "re-author" the stories you have about yourself not serving a positive purpose and replace them with new stories, skills and a vision that do.

As a therapist, I am an explorer of the human experience and narrative.
Along my career in human services that started in 2017 as a volunteer at a psychiatric hospital, I developed a passion for psychotherapy, emphasizing existential and spiritual components. Having an undergraduate in philosophy, where I received education on world religion, spirituality, and the fundamental questions of reality. I poineered a blend of interpersonal talk therapy, mindfulness, and meditative sound therapy that helps individuals transcend the narratives that have kept them stuck in recurring maladaptive patterns.

I currently provide telehealth services for anyone residing in California or Utah. I believe the core self knows what we need in order to heal if we listen. I have experience with teens/adults who struggle with suicidality/self-injury, trauma, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, life-transitions, and spiritual/religious crises. We apply in-depth DBT, and also (importantly) what comes after DBT. I am trained in Mindfulness, DBT Foundations, EMDR, and Sand Tray work. I work well with spiritual orientations, behavioral approaches, narrative and strengths-based work. My doctoral research focused on self-injury.

I work with young adults, families, and couples helping them to shed light on themselves and the systems of which they are a part. I have worked predominately with clients experiencing symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar, addictive disorders, and personality disorders. I have a background in wilderness therapy and experiential treatment and love to introduce creative, alternative modes of expression to my clients, including yoga movement, narrative, and outdoor based therapies (walk and talk). By the end of our first session, most of my clients feel relieved and hopeful for their next steps.

Starting on the path of counseling or therapy can be a bit intimidating. However, it doesn’t need to be. Working in a friendly and caring environment and with an understanding and caring counselor can make the process easier, more comfortable, and even fun. Sometimes we may feel as though we are broken; but I don’t believe anyone is actually broken, they are just doing something in a way that they wish they weren’t. The trick is to find a new way, an enjoyable way, a way that rejuvenates, reinvigorates, and brings zest to life. To learn more please reach out or schedule an appointment on my website. Happy to help : )

I'm here to support you on your healing journey with trauma, grief, and loss. Trauma impacts us in many ways and can have lasting impacts into our adulthood. Sometimes when we experience a traumatic event our minds and bodies process it on their own. Other times things get a little sticky and we need to find ways to encourage the expression of that energy. In addition to offering multiple healing modalities, I'm here to have open conversations about and integration of experiences involving an expanded state of awareness.

My therapy style is intuitive, explorative, and collaborative in nature. This allows for more than surface level interaction and can be helpful in breaking through barriers of avoidance and fear, as the journey into the Self can feel intimidating at times. It is an honor to walk alongside my clients as they overcome barriers they may have once believed were impossible to climb. I take a holistic approach to therapy, addressing core issues related to mind, body, and soul, rather than treating symptoms alone. In my experience, this approach leads to more profound and long- lasting change.

Everyone has a sense of personal identify. How do you think about yourself? What is important to you? Identities are often imposed or at the very least encouraged by environmental or cultural forces. As a child, were you routinely told, "You can do it!,” or were you more often told; “You can’t do anything right?” The things we hear as children are usually the very things that create our sense of self. Early in life, sense of self is associated with security, protection, and acceptance. If our identity is strongly developed in the early years of life, this helps to protect us against the challenges in life.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
