I utilize a trauma-informed, integrative approach, drawing from narrative therapy, family systems, and psychodynamic theory.
I have experience working with diverse clients and approach talk therapy with curiosity, warmth, and an authentic interest in the lives of others. It is my strongly held belief that meaningful change happens when folks are supported in their self-discovery, recognizing that they are the expert in their own experience.

There’s nothing I find more gratifying than helping my clients redefining purpose in their lives. While we are in a constant struggle with the expectations of others, we often lose sight of who we are ourselves. We negotiate, toil, and sacrifice—sometimes without even knowing why.

To use therapy jargon, I'm trained in a technique called "EMDR" for trauma, "psychodynamic therapy," "narrative therapy," as well as in issues relating to IVF, fertility, and pregnancy.
Has your anxiety become hard to manage, affecting your sleep and draining life of joy? Do you do everything yourself to avoid asking for help and being vulnerable? Are you managing feelings of overwhelm? If so, you’re in the right place. I’m Seta, and I specialize in working with professional women balancing family and careers, and dealing with anxiety and overwhelm. I’m trained to notice patterns that may be hindering you, and to help you untangle feelings to find clarity. Together we can put to rest past traumas, reduce anxiety, and increase joy.

Are you feeling isolated in your relationships? While romance may begin in an instant, long-term relationships are not easy to maintain alone. No matter where you are in your relationship, seeking guidance, opening the lines of communication, and establishing safety in emotional expression are the cornerstones of any lasting and fulfilling relationship. I aim to empower my clients to realize the strengths they already possess. I work with them, both individually and as couples and families, to utilize those unique strengths to develop a positive narrative for their lives and relationships.

I utilize a holistic, person-centered approach, and am drawn to engaging in exploration with my clients through narrative therapy.
Currently, I am the founder of Lionheart Psychotherapy, a mental health practice that offers online therapy and hosts mental health events. An ideal client for Lionheart clinicians or myself can be coming from any life experience, as long as their needs and goals focus on self-understanding, self-compassion, and healing. Therapy can be challenging but it should also be a safe space to hold realizations, pain, growth, joy and release. An ideal client is willing to embrace this process.

What is your narrative and how does it impact the way you live? Viewing our world through a lens of symptoms, labels or states (such as anxiety or depression) often inhibits our ability to see ourselves as whole people.
"What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" asked the poet, Mary Oliver. I've been thinking about this every day since the first time I read it. It's some question, isn't it? Sometimes it inspires me. Sometimes it frightens me. Since it always challenges me, I've rooted my practice philosophy in it. It's kind of like the adult version of “what do you want to be when you grow up”? How in the world do we answer that?

Whether you face day-to-day stressors of life; as a parent, working professional, or partner; or have experienced a traumatic event like pregnancy loss or infertility, child birth, job loss, or divorce, we'll use various cognitive techniques to disrupt negative thoughts and internal dialogues and give you the tools to create your new narrative and outcomes.
Who we want to be and how we are in this moment can be different! I can understand firsthand how the intersectionality of multiple identities we all carry, along with life experiences can have a profound impact on our wellness and equilibrium. The great news is, I believe we all possess the skills necessary to develop into the best version of ourselves. Most importantly, it is never too late to start on the journey of self-discovery and transformation and as your therapist, I'm here to support that journey.

While incorporating a strength-based, trauma-informed lens, I use a blend of psychotherapeutic styles including narrative therapy, CBT, and psychoanalysis.
It can be difficult processing who we are, what we have experienced, and how we should move forward in the face of adversity. While working collaboratively, I welcome individuals to share their story unapologetically and unpack these life experiences. I work to build a caring collaboration that aims to empower and uplift while fostering safety and trust. I offer an affirming, safe space for people who identify as a POC and/or LGBTQIA+ to explore their identities holistically and deconstruct their own narrative within a larger system. Together, we can create a plan with your specific needs and goals in mind.

Through narrative therapy, I engage clients as they find their voice, deepen their self awareness, and rewrite unhelpful stories.
Many of my clients are struggling to form healthy relationships. Challenges might arise with their partners, families, friends, or coworkers. I work with them to unpack the relationship patterns they’ve been carrying since childhood so new, healthy dynamics can take root. I also enjoy working with creatives. As a former entertainment employee, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges they face. Through self-reflection, I help these individuals find joy in their work.

I believe that every human holds the innate capacity to heal, especially queer individuals whose lives are rooted in resilience. Through therapy, I highlight the potential of empowerment and strength in overcoming trauma and everyday challenges alike. I bring my research experience in body image and eating disorders among queer populations to frame my clinical work. My style can be described as active, warm, encouraging, and fun. While I incorporate elements of cognitive-behavioral, narrative, psychodynamic, and client-centered modalities, meeting with me will feel like a conversation with a warm, supportive friend.

The tools that I use to accomplish this include: a narrative focus or the art of self-storytelling, being goal oriented yet flexible, committed and consistent.
I have dedicated my life to understanding our collective human experience; and each individual's unique perspective. I recognize that the individual brings to therapy a host of experiences and the dynamic influence between culture and environment. Oftentimes, restlessness and crisis are generally the precipitants for people seeking help. Relationships: marriage, break-ups/divorce; grief & loss; mental/medical health issues; and career/life transitions may be some of the experiences influencing your decision to begin therapy. It takes courage to acknowledge that there is a problem and even greater courage to seek intervention.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
