I believe that each person has a deep wisdom inside of them, and part of my job is to help you learn and remember how to trust yourself. Supporting people to cultivate both self-awareness and self-compassion are a central focus of mine. I also feel passionate about cultivating a safe and trusted connection with clients that provides the opportunity for healing and growth. Each of us has a unique journey and I help people to feel more at home in themselves, both in times of joy and hardship. Learning to support ourselves in times of pain and suffering takes practice, and we are not meant to do it alone.

I use Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Sand Tray, Narrative, Internal Family Systems (IFSI trained), and psycho-education.
I offer a safe and peaceful space for people experiencing challenges and life transitions to take new and intentional steps. I work with those seeking positive change who are ready to prioritize their well-being. Making changes and finding a path can be overwhelming, and I enjoy helping people identify and reach their authentic goals.

Some of the modalities have applied are CBT, DBT, behavioral, trauma, and crisis intervention, group and art therapies, positive psychology, narrative, and integrative/holistic theories.
Let me pour you a cup of tea or coffee, and let’s talk. Many perceive therapy as missing the opportunity to truly connect with the therapist as real people. It often feels like a professional exchange rather than a personal interaction. I’m here to guide you toward solutions and personal transformation. Let’s make this process both effective and enriching. Reaching out to a therapist might feel daunting, but I encourage you to pause, take a deep breath, and make that call. I’m here to assist. My greatest passion is cultivating healing and hope for individuals who have been or are undergoing traumatic/stressful experiences.

I take a developmental and holistic approach grounded in depth psychology, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology and narrative therapy.
We have all experienced various levels of loss, harm or violation in our lives and this will have an effect on us. Are you experiencing disordered eating, unwanted sexual behavior, depression, anxiety, anger or turning to substances for relief? Often people feel a pain inside they are unable to understand or articulate. Perhaps you're frustrated and beginning to feel hopeless or helpless to change. Transformation and change is possible but it is a process, not an event. Research shows that finding the right "fit" in a therapist is one of the most important factors in having a transformative experience in therapy.

My main modalities integrate the brain, heart/emotions, and body through mindfulness, EMDR, and narrative therapy.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" (Anais Nin). You know when it's time to make a change - whether the struggle is depression, anxiety, past trauma, or perhaps a painful relationship - there comes a tipping point when you are ready to make that first step toward hope.

My passion is to provide opportunity for growth and healing through multiple avenues. I have a connection to narrative and cognitive behavior therapy which can be applied in a traditional office setting or through equine assisted therapy. I have walked through my own healing from divorce and trauma and found a passion to support others’ finding their path for healing. I support a "team" approach to counseling and if it's appropriate and safe, I prefer to include parents/caregivers in goals and support for their child.

Starting from a Person-Centered approach, I integrate other theories and techniques such as Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, and AEDP.
We, as humans, have an incredible potential for growth, but we often find life difficult; we feel stuck, alone, and uncertain. I believe that when we work through the hard things, we can find healing. I strive to create counseling relationships based on safety, trust, and hope, where people are accepted and challenged to grow in new and meaningful ways. I believe counseling is an opportunity to work through pain and suffering, develop resiliency which can be carried forward into life, and experience healing, freedom, purpose, and self-acceptance.

Narrative therapy is a favorite for me because many times it's just a question of looking at your thought processes and how you react to things in your life.
I enjoy working with all kinds of people. Each of us brings our own story and none of us were meant to work through our lives alone. I believe each client has their own strengths and sometimes it's just a question of adjusting the lighting so you can see what they are. It does not matter if you're sad or lonely or frustrated, we can find a way to make life much better.

My experience has led me to employ treatment modalities such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution focused therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, Narrative Therapy and Logo Therapy.
My ideal client is one who feels that they are stuck and has found it hard to find a way out. They are seeking purpose and are tired of living an unfulfilled life. They may have made some mistakes and need assistance on the journey of reconciliation. They could be dealing with a loss so detrimental that it has halted any forward progress in life and they now need to understand the new person they will become. They could have suffered tremendously at the hands of others and the pain of the past is still present and they need to find away to make sense of it all. My ideal client has been afflicted with the human condition.

By connecting thoughts and emotions with behaviors and how they influence each other, one has the ability to transform responses and reframe the narrative of their story.
As a former victim advocate with Colorado Springs Police Department, I have a deep passion for helping victims of crime regain their power and find their center. It is through my work with law enforcement and victims of crime that I have gained a deep understanding into the dynamics of trauma, vicarious trauma, secondary trauma, and repercussions of untreated PTSD. It has also been my experience that the vast majority of addictions stem from untreated and unaddressed adverse life experiences that are inherently trauma related.

Together, we can work towards healing by finding your voice, feeling in control, and defeating negative thoughts with the tools of DBT/mindfulness, CBT, and Trauma Narrative Therapy.
Are you tried of feeling like you don’t have any control in life? Are you tired of worrying and anticipating the worse? Sexual abuse, domestic abuse, and other traumatic experiences impact us for a lifetime. The experience often leaves us feeling confused, doubtful, anxious, sad, and worthless. These traumatic experiences can shake the very core of our being, impact our relationships, and make us wonder how to move on and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes these horrible things make us feel lost and stuck in life.

My approaches generally are psychoeducational (engaging the head), narrative(engaging the heart), experiential /grounding (engaging the whole self: head, heart, body, and spirit).
Do you feel lost or broken? Do you find yourself entrapped by negative cycles of thought and addiction? Are you feeling like you do not recognize yourself, are disconnected from relationships, or frustrated spiritually? These feelings and thoughts disorient our lives from the beauty and truth around us, clouding our sense of purpose, worth, and Identity. My core desire is to co-labor with you toward healing, reconnection, and fulfillment in your life context. If you find this resonates with you, please reach out and we can get started on the journey for your health.

As a clinician it is my goal is not to focus on treatment, but to join the client through the process of healing. The way I do this is by getting in depth understanding of hearing the narrative of my client's lived experiences and starting at the place of their choosing. It is important to me build a strong connection to the clients I serve. Therefore, they can achieve be in a space where they can be open and allow the process of healing to occur.

Not having words or space to share our narrative of past events holds us forever in bonds.
My goal is not to make you forget your past or the people in your past but to help you make those experiences a healthy part of your future life. The past should be something we can live with, a place to start and build a better tomorrow. I believe you are the key healing.

I will not be asking you "How does that make you feel?" YOU are the expert in you and my role is to help you understand things that are in your way and how to get rid of them. I served in Army, Navy and in the Marine infantry with three combat tours. I've had to work through my own trauma and struggles and after I did, I went back to get my degree so I can help people struggling to move forward. I partner with clients to help build understanding of where the problems originate so you can revise the narrative and move toward the person you want to be.

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
