Sharing our inner experiences with someone can often feel frightening, which is exactly why I place such an importance on connection and acceptance in the therapeutic process. I aim to create a safe environment that will invite my clients to delve deeper into their personal narrative, as I truly believe we are not built to process emotions alone. As humans, we all have a propensity to grow and become our true selves, unfortunately we aren’t always gifted with the circumstances to allow it. I am passionate about creating a space for not only self-discovery and self-acceptance, but to allow clients to feel seen, heard, and valued.

I have had wonderful mentors, teachers, and training opportunities that inform my use of Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialetical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed and body-based modalities.
Do you find yourself in a constant state of ‘doing’ in order to stay regulated and out of your head? Are you trying to care less about what others think? I work best with individuals who refer to themselves as “over-thinkers” and are looking for new ways to manage the stress of day-to-day life. Contact me for a free consultation if you struggle with the nagging feeling of being disconnected from others, or if you wonder what it would feel like if you could break free from your inner critic and the feeling that you’re lacking despite a mountain of accomplishments. I offer Art Therapy if you'd like to tap into your creative wisdom.

I am passionate about empowering clients to live a more spirited and enlivened existence. Recognizing that we all react out of habit in challenging situations, I offer concrete practices that build the necessary skills to intervene in these habitual reactions. These skills and insights will help you make new choices and live a more engaged and fulfilling life; you will learn effective ways to communicate personal needs, listen and respond to your own values, and connect with your innate wisdom and ability to heal.

Our goal will be to understand and shift your internal narrative, interrupt frustrating patterns, and find healthier ways to support yourself and connect with others.
My clients often show up to therapy because of a need for meaningful change in their lives, and a desire to feel happier and more fulfilled. You may find yourself struggling with self-doubt and a harsh, critical inner voice; feeling stuck, sad, far away, and disconnected; navigating a new or difficult circumstance such as death of a loved one; or wanting help to reduce conflict and improve communication with your partner. I see therapy as an opportunity for transformative insight, creativity, self-expression, and healing. It is a place to process and move past the painful experience that stick with us and hold us back.

I use narrative therapy techniques, inviting clients to engage in the stories of their lives, and the stories they tell themselves about their lives.
I’m so glad to meet you. Many clients come to see me because they are experiencing loss, serious or chronic illness, or struggling with grief. Others have a sense that something is not right. I have specific experience and training in geriatric social work and nearly a decade of experience helping individuals and their families navigate psychosocial challenges of grief, loss and serious illness. I can also help with conceptualizing end of life wishes and legacy work.

I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, integrating my training in evidence-based theories and modalities like Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
There are important reasons why you are struggling, and they deserve attention and understanding. I work with people who find themselves overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life and demoralized by the struggle just to keep up. People who have ever felt defective, or like there is something wrong with the way that they are. These feelings may be due to, or manifest as: anxiety, depression, relationship problems, substance-use issues, or ADHD-related issues like difficulty with time management, organization, and motivation.

I draw upon CBT, IFS, somatic therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy to support the processing of trauma, fostering a holistic healing experience that encompasses both mind and body.
Our life experiences can lead us to question our identity and purpose in the world we live in. This can lead us to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Do you want to improve how you face challenges, function in your relationships, and face overwhelming feelings? I place heavy importance on addressing trauma. Trauma disintegrates the parts that make up your whole self, which can leave aspects of who you are hidden from your awareness. Left unaddressed, anxiety and depression can worsen, which can rob you of the necessary connection that all human beings need to thrive. I aim to help you process unresolved trauma.

I have been trained as a Jungian oriented depth therapist, blending narrative therapy, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral techniques.
The people I've been able to help most feel stuck and crave direction in recovering an assured sense of who they are and their potential. We are all creatures of adaptation and many of us learn early on to adjust to whatever the world asks of us. Accordingly, we may internalize the priorities of our parents, our peers, and our culture, agendas that don’t always serve our own interest.

I work from a holistic and eclectic perspective combining somatic techniques, CBT, narrative interventions, and mindfulness practice - all informed by a social justice lens.
Pain is part of what makes us human; the way we move through pain is how we grow. Our work together can strengthen resilience and equanimity when confronting the challenges that life inevitably brings. I work collaboratively and compassionately with my clients to help them develop a nurturing and dynamic sense of self, community, and the world, fostering stronger connection to the people and resources that can support them outside of therapy.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
