I'm happy to be a part of your journey to internal understanding, acceptance and growth. Many times we approach therapy from an overwhelming place. We may find ourselves repeating painful patterns that do not bring us enjoyment and satisfaction. My goal is to put you first while implementing evidence based practices, to guide you to reach your goals. Whether that looks like depression, anxiety, substance use, self-harm, suicidal ideations, family conflict, or something else; I am here to help.

Is the stress of work and family life becoming difficult to manage? Do you struggle to find meaning in your life? Are you working to understand competing aspects of your identity? It is my privilege to help my clients work through their personal struggles, using a psychodynamic approach that is both relational and existential. I believe that the relationship between a therapist and client provides an empowering, life-affirming space to work through life's struggles and to bring about healing.

Therapy is an act of strength, hope, and resiliency. Even the happiest and most well-adjusted people may encounter problems resulting from unexpected life challenges and demands. My goal is to work in collaboration and partnership with my clients to bring about positive changes, growth, and healing from past painful events. I have 15 years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist. I received both my Master's degree and Continued Advanced Graduate Study Degree in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College. I am also certified as a cognitive behavioral therapist from Boston University School of Social Work.

Note: Email is the best way to reach me for faster reply. I am a therapist who is passionate about helping my clients regain (or maybe gain for the first time) a true sense of self. Addiction, old behavior patterns, unhealthy coping mechanisms... they can all derail us from discovering our authenticity and our purpose in life. I have experience in helping clients of all backgrounds move into recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders, behavioral addictions, anxiety disorders, and depression.

In meeting with folks for therapeutic conversations, I value being present, curious, and caring. I take a de-centered and non-expert stance, creating space for you to develop a sense of agency and support as you face the problems and struggles of life. My hope is to help you feel not-so-alone with problems in life and to give you a space to develop clarity about what is important to you, about what your hopes and values are, and about what steps you would like to take that support your preferred ways of living.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
