I believe relationships define each of us and form the foundation for our life. I work from a systemic perspective with couples, individuals, and families to create relationships that define not only who we are, but also who we desire to become. I help clients with their relationships, intimacy, connection, communication, and sexual compatibility. I work with a lot of women who have suffered from Narcissistic abuse in relationships and family of origin. I also help those who are confused in their current relationships. I enjoy helping those who have autoimmune disease and cancer redefine their sexuality, relationships and desire.

Trauma stemming from narcissistic abuse is my main focus.
How do you want your life to look? Who do you want your future self to be? We will explore this together and create the life you want to live. Whether you have been through abuse, neglect, experience depression and anxious thoughts, I can help you navigate through the difficulty and find hope. If you have experienced hopelessness, feelings of unworthiness, past trauma creeping up, and unable to find the right partner or friends - I can help you find healing. Navigating relationships - especially the one with yourself is how we will build the life you want.

At the heart of my work, I approach therapy from a relational, psychodynamic therapy model, which means I believe the relationship between the client and therapist can be a transformative component in the growth process. I am a LPC combining modern neurobiology with holistic somatic healing, the psychodynamic therapeutic relationship, and body-based practices to create an experiential awakening on a bodily, psychological and emotional level. I work from a somatic-centered therapeutic approach, meaning that I believe that the body tells the stories and narratives. For more information, my website is: www.kellypastori.com

Whether one seeks relief from anxiety, trauma, relational impasses, or life disillusionment, therapy can help. It is unfortunate that insufficiently engaged approaches to therapy, prohibitive rates, and the unconscionable reluctance of most clinicians to accept insurance fail so many clients, who in good faith seek to discover a healing of heart and mind. As a psychodynamic therapist, I view my role as an empathic change agent employed to help bring about a fuller knowledge of self and a more liberated experience of life and relationship. I also supervise highly promising interns from NWU available for as low as $15-30 per session.

Let's face it: LIFE. IS. HARD. You are out here giving it your all, yet often find yourself feeling exhausted, anxious, lost, and overwhelmed. Meanwhile, everyone else seems like they've got it all figured out. Well, here's the thing: you are not alone in feeling this way, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with you because of it. In fact, discovering this truth is at the heart of therapy.

You are one-of-a-kind. And so, beginning with our first meeting, I will be sure that I clearly understand you and your unique needs. Then, as your therapist, I will work to help you establish and achieve the goals that are immportant to you. Effective psychotherapy supports the emotional healing that leads to wellbeing. My approach includes what I call "relational reflective listening and speaking". It's a process that developes and nurtures the deep respect I have for my patients. In our conversations you and I together will discover new possibilities, new hope that heals the heart.

Therapy is often times a difficult and personal journey that one enters for a variety of reasons. It provides a safe place for people to process and work through circumstances while also offering valuable insight and perspective into whatever journey they may find themselves on. I feel humbled and a sense of gratitude that you would allow me to be a part of this very personal journey that you have chosen to go on. My philosophy is to welcome & embrace you regardless of where you are at in the journey and walk beside you as you see it to it's end.

The most common phrase I hear when I ask new clients to describe themselves is "not good enough." As a result of invalidating life experiences, many of us come to believe that we are unworthy of acceptance. In order to avoid potential rejection, we hide aspects of our identities that others might view as unacceptable, and we present a fragmented or incomplete version of ourselves to the world. While this can be advantageous in some environments, it also can become a barrier to intimacy. Many of my clients struggle to be vulnerable and find it challenging to embrace their full, authentic selves.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?

By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?

Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?

It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
