I specialize in trauma and have over 25 years of experience working with PTSD, eating disorders, self-injury, and personality disorders. I also focus on women's mental health needs, particularly postpartum depression, infertility, and body image issues. I am ecletic in my approach, using psychodynamic principles, sensorimotor approaches, and DBT skills.
I have presented at 10 conferences on self-injury and 5 on eating disorders (including talks for Duke Grand Rounds, UNC School Social Work, AAPCSW, and NAMI). I have worked on a general psychiatric inpatient unit and an eating disorders unit. I also worked in an eating disorders day program. I facilitated DBT groups for 6 years at a mental health center.
I am on faculty at PCC, the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas. I am a clinical supervisor for their psychodynamic psychotherapy candidates and served on PCC's curriculum committee and speakers bureau. I am currently on PCC's Admissions Committee. I am certified in psychodynamic psychotherapy and taught PCC's course on attachment theory.
