My clinical skills are vast after over 30 years in private practice and 40 years as a social worker. I have worked with the military in Europe as a family therapist and participate in the Give an Hour Program here in Kentucky. I serve on several boards including the Kent School Social Work Board, and the National Association of Social Work Ethics Committee.

I have many years of experience working with early childhood trauma and severe, persistent mental illness, varying from ages of 5 years to 70+. My goal is to empower and advocate for positive change within you, as the individual, and the system as a whole. The place that we will create together is a safe and judgement free space. I work through an Existential foundation, to help those I work with seek meaning and purpose, with skills built from experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, all within the context of a trauma-informed approach.

I have practiced social work for 20 years, most of which has involved children and adults with histories of trauma and significant treatment needs. I have approximately 4 years of experience with direct treatment of children and adults in a therapeutic practice or setting and obtained my LCSW to be able to independently practice. I enjoy working with children, adults, families, and couples with regard to complex treatment needs such as trauma, conflict resolution, anxiety and mood disorders, grief, and developmental issues affecting individuals and families such as learning disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Theresa is a Licensed Professional Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and an approved LPAT/LPCC supervisor. She received her Masters of Education with a concentration in Art Therapy and Counseling from the University of Louisville in 2006 and a Bachelors of Fine Arts, Cum Laude, from the University of Louisville in 2002. She has over 15 years of experience working in the mental health field. She is one of the co-founders of Louisville Expressive Therapies.

My goal as a therapist is to encourage clients to attain their greatest potential, to help them transform their lives to being filled with increased ease and balance, and to empower them to recognize their internal competencies that they may access as coping skills for handling the complexities of daily challenges.

I enjoy working with all client types, but take a particular interest in working together with women to help in the process of building and furthering their individual level of internal strength, confidence and empowerment. Working with family systems, parenting coaching, and partners dealing with divorce or separation is also a passion of mine.
