Dr. Cynthia Johnson is a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating children and adolescents with learning disabilities, gifted/2e, complex attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, traumatic brain injury, intellectual disability, and related emotional and behavioral difficulties. StepStone Psychological Assessment and Therapeutic Services works extensively with families and schools to support the child, and offers therapeutic services to help children and adolescents utilize their strengths and successfully negotiate any areas of difficulty.
If your child is struggling in reading, math or writing, has difficulty paying attention, this evaluation helps determine areas of strength and weakness so I can recommend specific treatments. Evaluations may include cognitive, academic, attention, language, memory, targeted reading assessments, emotional/behavioral screening, and teacher feedback.
I understand the frustration my clients are experiencing and tailor my evaluation accordingly. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused therapeutic approaches. I help clients develop skills and celebrate success as they master one skill at a time. I do not see clients experiencing substance abuse, or those with significant thoughts of self-harm.
