I work with individuals/families that have experienced emotional and physical abandonment and/or are healing from narcissistic abuse in either parental/romantic/sibling relationships.
We all have the capacity and right to have a fulfilling life however, many barriers interfere with our current sense of satisfaction and our ability to achieve our dreams. I hope to be able to help you explore what barriers are getting in the way by focusing on, recognizing and reinforcing your innate strengths, and exploring where blockages within your life manifested, and how they may be shifted so that you are able to transform.

Specifically, those recovering from codependency, narcissistic abuse, religious groups, drug and alcohol abuse, and wrongful termination.
I strive to help people become their own authority, which may have been compromised by unhealthy relationships, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. I focus on the individual's relationship with themselves, fostering an understanding and compassion towards personal strengths and vulnerabilities. I believe it is imperative to address underlying issues with out judgment or shame, so that we can heal parts of the self that are no longer serving us. My clinical training is in psychodynamic therapy, and I tend to gravitate towards an attachment based and humanistic approach.

My decision to specialize in narcissistic abuse recovery was prompted by patterns I was recognizing in the narratives of many of my clients as well as my personal experiences with narcissistic personalities.
I believe clients are the experts on their own lives. I take a strength-based and person-centered approach to therapy, meaning that while I see myself as a consultant in peoples' journeys toward enhanced wellness, I work in a collaborative way that keeps the client's goals and priorities front and center. During our time together, I will listen to your story, offer reflections, and ask creative questions to gain clarity and discover the deeper and richer meanings within your narrative. Together, we will work to understand your pain and to mutually identify your strengths, resources, and desired future.

Were you raised by emotionally immature/narcissistic parents? Struggling with codependency and reclaiming your life and find peace. You’re likely an empathic high-achiever grappling with people-pleasing, anxiety, and feeling overly responsible for others' needs to the point of self-sacrifice. You’re a natural caretaker who is exhausted from constantly walking on eggshells with others, worrying about what you say and do. You’re likely highly driven, yet paralyzed by self-criticism and perfectionism as you try to prove self-worth or earn others’ love and approval. Deep down, you just don’t feel “good enough.”

Many clients I work with have difficulty letting people really see them. Outwardly, they are viewed as smart, creative, and successful, but have a hard time feeling vulnerable and may even feel "broken inside". These clients are my specialty. I provide my clients with the feeling like I always have their back by creating a safe, supportive, and consistent relationship. This allows you to develop the perspectives and abilities that may have felt too overwhelming to change on your own. Through our work, you will feel a strong and steady sense of who you are, allowing you confidence to grow.

Life has never been particularly easy, but lately we are faced with additional stress. As a psychologist, I meet with men and women, couples and families who are coping with conflict in their marriages, conflicts with their children, financial pressures, and workplace stress. Things might seem so overwhelming that we despair of ever recapturing the happiness and optimism that we once might have had. I can show you ways to reduce your anxiety, and develop new coping strategies to improve interactions in your family, your relationships and your workplace. You can find confidence and recapture a sense of well being.

We cannot get through life without experiencing difficult times. None of us can. Whether it's dissatisfaction in a relationship, family conflict, career predicament, trauma, or personal distress, we all experience suffering at some point. And yet, how we respond can make all the difference in our future and the future of those we love. Therapy can often be one of the first steps on a path toward a life that is fulfilling and allows you to be your authentic self. The best place to start is right where you are; the time to start is now.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?

By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?

Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?

It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
