Over the years, I’ve been trained in a number of therapeutic approaches but whether it’s cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, communication skills/problem-solving, family systems/work systems, hypnosis or mindfulness, I believe that the most important part of coaching and counseling is making sure that whatever approach is used, it fits the needs of the individual, couple or family. Each person is different; his/her life experiences create a unique story. It’s important for me to understand that story, get to know my clients and, make sure that whatever approach I use; it fits that person.
I’ve trained corporate teams, couples and individuals in communication skills and techniques to build better, more satisfying relationships and conducted anger management workshops and support groups. I’ve taught at The University of Santa Cruz (“Healing the Chemically Dependent Family”) and Santa Clara University (“Collaborative Law).
I’ve worked with Stanford Family, Community and Preventative Medicine to train their new doctors in communication and stress management skills to help them in their practices. I’ve published a book to help families going through a divorce: (“Divorce, A Problem to be Solved; Not a Battle to be Fought”).
