About
I believe psychotherapy is a transformative tool through which one can develop new ways to understand and approach life situations, foster resilience and manage challenges. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of professional experience with individuals of all ages. In my work, I assist individuals facing major life changes, experiencing depression, anxiety or illness, or making relationship or career decisions. I also work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and straight individuals on many aspects of sexual and gender identity and relationships.
Trained in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches, I utilize cognitive-behavioral, existential and mind-body techniques as well in the therapeutic process. To each relationship, I strive to bring empathy, curiosity and wisdom gained from professional and life experiences.
Personal change can happen through the right climate of support and challenge. I welcome the chance to work together in a partnership to understand what is creating difficulty, and find paths to reach your goals. Please visit my websites at www.drulrichnyc.com and www.taconicnet.com.
