About
Therapy only works when there is a "sense of connection". Research discovered that for therapy to be successful, the client needed to have a feeling of connection. There are two parts to that: 1. You feel like the therapist really knows what they are doing. 2. You feel like the therapist REALLY gets who you are. For me, the art in therapy is the ability to listen between the lines to be able to understand the nuances that make you, you. You should know in the first session whether the therapist is the right fit for you.
Brief facts: I have had a full-time private practice in San Francisco and Marin for over 35 years. I am an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry (WOS) at UCSF Medical School. My style tends to be verbal, engaged and active; and I'm focused on making sure you leave with a new skill set.
Background: Born and raised on the East Coast; B.S. from Northwestern University; M.A. in Psychology from University of San Francisco; Ph.D. from The Fielding Institute. I am the Chairperson for Disaster Mental Health for Marin County Psychological Assoc. I am committed to excellence and have thousands of hours of on-going training.
