I am trained in object relations theory, but my experience as a high school counselor, family therapist and lawyer informs my flexible and practical approach. While offering a deep therapy experience that leads to enduring change and growth, I am mindful that patients need strategies to manage immediate concerns and feel relief during the change process. I approach patients with a belief that their early experiences and attachments have shaped the way they see themselves, how they approach relationships and what they expect from life. I seek to help patients develop new ways of relating that lead to healthier connections to others and increased autonomy.
My interests include: career and academic confusion and dissatisfaction, intergenerational family conflict, trauma, postpartum depression and anxiety, adult children of parents with substance abuse and mental health issues, women in transitional stages of life (pregnancy, motherhood, "empty-nest" and retirement, divorce, widowhood).
I have a certificate in family therapy from the Family Institute of Philadelphia (1992) and have been studying object relations therapy with Paul Koehler at the Philadelphia Psychotherapy Center since 2011.
