What’s hapnin’? Hi there! I’m Nailah Davis, a graduate student studying Somatic Counseling at Naropa University. I have the privilege to be with humans as they navigate the “in between”. I assist people in learning how to listen to that freedom inside and believe in it. Our worlds influence how we relate to ourselves and each other. I believe when we become aware of our influential contexts, we can make choices to live more authentically.
In our space, we do your process together. The word counsel comes from Latin and means “to summon advice together”. Not only just me and you, but with our spirituality, ancestors, and bodies.
Somatic counseling understands that bodies know how to heal and carry our stories. Stress, joy, resilience, neglect, and oppression are not only remembered mentally but physically. Together, we offer space, and hopefully compassion, to those stories' through movement, music, and mindfulness. I will support you in the growing awareness of your body’s stories.
The fact that you are reading this is a beautiful example of your resilience. Although the work you are going to do can be uneasy, it is necessary, and I will support you.
