Announcement icon Owing to Covid 19 I have been providing remote sessions. I also can see children in person for outdoor sessions.
I am a trauma informed clinician with training in CBT, DBT, and maternal mental health. I have worked in residential and school settings as well as in criminal justice. I work from a strengths based perspective with children, adolescents, and their families as well as adults and couples to help navigate the complexity of relationships and day to day stressors.
I run groups for children who are twice exceptional (2e), experience anxiety, have diagnoses including ADHD, ODD, and/or ASD, as well as families going through separation and divorce.  I am the mother of an elementary age child who helps me see the world through his eyes.
Testimonial: "My son participated in play therapy with Carrie Cohen. She is creative, fun, caring, and extremely committed to the well-being of the children she works with. My son absolutely loves his counseling sessions and has been making great progress!" -Mother of 7 year old.

N. Carrie Cohen's Groups

Covid Support Group for Parents

I will be offering a Zoom group for parents of children with special needs. This is an incredibly stressful time with all the schools being closed including the District 75 schools which normally have 12 month IEPs for students and most parents are working remotely from home. The group would be both supportive to decrease isolation during social distancing and offer resources and strategies for coping.
