It can feel very isolating to look in the mirror and not recognize the face staring back at you. Sometimes, you can feel so lost that you forget where your journey first began. Or perhaps, you never had the time to figure out the direction you wanted to go. Stress, loneliness, sadness, and pain have become your companions, and while you can feel your feet on the ground, more often than not, you find your heart and mind drifting elsewhere. A belief about “not being good enough” or “that it was your fault” has controlled your life for way too long. I work with young adults, families, and couples helping them to shed light on themselves and the systems of which they are a part. I have worked predominately with clients experiencing symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar, addictive disorders, and personality disorders. I have a background in wilderness therapy and experiential treatment and love to introduce creative, alternative modes of expression to my clients, including yoga movement, narrative, and outdoor based therapies (walk and talk).

Are you struggling with some form of addiction? Addictions are very challenging to overcome, especially on your own. I have spent a great deal of time working with addictive disorders and working with adolescents and young adults. The crux of my approach is simple - you, the client, are the focus. Cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and play therapy round it out. I know modern research shows that addictions are a very real 'disease' or 'injury'. If you fell out of a tree and broke your bone, you would likely go to an Urgent Care center and have a medical doctor reset and cast the bone. The same is true for addictions.

We have a natural tendency to turn away from difficult things. However, when you have the right tools, you become capable of managing difficult circumstances and relationships. I am here to help you learn how to use the tools which will be effective for you to thrive in a world full of twists and turns.

The journey through life is often challenging and sometimes we get stuck and don’t know how to move forward. My job is to help you get unstuck by offering a helping hand and an objective perspective on your "stuckness". I started my own journey into the mental health field because of my struggles when I experienced infertility, adoption, and the challenge of raising a child with attachment issues. FUNCTIONAL THERAPY is a wrap-around, holistic method including analysis of one's sleep, exercise, dietary, recreating and stress-juggling patterns. A tuned-up body/brain can significantly facilitate cognitive/emotive progress. A kaizen approach to change allows real-world, practical strategies for growth in a short time-frame. Some issues may take longer, yet with a brief, solution-focused approach many clients reach their goals within a few meetings. My approach is down-to-earth, unorthodox, humorous when needed and with gentle, yet straight-forward feedback building on strengths and resiliency you already possess.
