It is my hope that through collaboration we can discover what it means to live as our full and authentic selves.

I am a student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at John Carroll University and a Counselor Trainee (CT) in the state of Ohio. I am currently working under the supervision of Michelle M. Paul, LPCC-S at Impact Counseling Solutions. I provide counseling services to adults and teens and have experience treating depression, anxiety, self-harm, and self-esteem issues, substance abuse disorders and co occurring mental health disorders, as well as supporting those who are navigating life transitions, family conflict and interpersonal relationships.

Healing often begins when clients and therapists collaborate to achieve the best possible outcomes. While change can often be an intimidating process, with the right support, individuals seeking counseling should feel empowered to capitalize on their strengths to improve their quality of life. My clients are individuals living with challenges such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, grief and loss, obsessive-compulsive disorders and other issues who are looking to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.

Two things are able to exist at once: life is messy AND you can have a safe and collaborative space to work through it. As a clinician, I believe in meeting you where you are and empowering each you from a strength-based approach. Starting therapy can be challenging (it’s not easy telling your innermost thoughts to a stranger!) and I strive to provide a non-judgmental, genuine, affirming, and accepting space. My goal as a Licensed Professional Counselor is to provide evidence-based practices to foster your personal growth and to provide education on mental and emotional wellness.

I have been practicing in Lakewood for over 17 years. Prior to that, I was in New York, where I was Assistant Dean of psychology at Adelphi University in addition to my private practice . My style is both supportive and interactive. I will work with you to help you to understand yourself and to identify your life goals.

It can be a difficult decision making the choice to seek therapy but the right one. This is a time for healing and building and when you make the choice to start this journey we can work together to achieve this. I have helped clients manage their mental health in school, community and inpatient settings. If you are feeling angry all the time, having difficulties getting out of bed in the morning, feeling so anxious you can't move , thoughts of self-harm, urges to use, low self esteem, having difficulty adjusting to life's stressors, unsure of life's direction or are having challenges in relationships of any kind I am here to help.

I use a collaborative approach in understanding and appreciating each client's story, goals, and desire for change. While meeting with clients, I hope to support, educate and motivate so that health, wellness and a mindful approach can be utilized by clients as they move forward and live fully. My treatment philosophy includes providing a safe, open and confidential environment in which clients can discuss, learn and try out new ways of communicating and being in relationships, managing and living with a variety of mental/physical health issues, and fully realizing their goals and potential.

I am a dual diagnosis therapist (mental health/addictions) who specializes in trauma-based treatments related to anxiety, PTSD, utilizing EMDR and other therapies. I find meeting my clients where they are, helps develop a collaborative approach to reaching maximum potential. My intention is for clients to feel safe and comfortable in an environment that fosters growth while respecting one’s autonomy. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Akron and am a Licensed Independent Social Worker as well as a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor in the State of Ohio. I have experience providing counseling services to individuals over the age of eighteen. I have worked in community treatment centers, both inpatient and outpatient for Substance Use Disorders as well as private practice with a focus on mental health. I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, stress management, and alcohol and other substance use disorders.

I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), but use a combination of therapy techniques based on patients’ needs including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness techniques with an emphasis on social skills training. I have more than 20 years experience in relationship counseling, men's issues and family counseling. Electronic media and video game abuse have become important counseling topics that I treat. I help men with life transitions and work issues, partners navigate relationship issues and families resolve conflict. I help with difficult children & adolescents and wrote "How to Change Your Child's Behavior". It highlights principles of good parenting, why children get out of control, and how to establish rules. My protocol is used by schools, child welfare agencies, and juvenile justice systems. I also specialize in treating ADHD.
