I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Duke University and have over thirty years of clinical experience working with adults, children, and families. My postgraduate training is in psychoanalytic, family, and cognitive-behavior therapy. My practice is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed. I have a broad range of experience and treat clients coping with both common life stresses and with major mental illnesses. I enjoy working with complex family situations and with individuals who have not met with success in prior treatment.
My specialties include depression, bipolar disorder, and other problems on the mood spectrum. I also have a background in treating ADHD, learning disabilities, high functioning autism, adoption, and "failure to launch" young adults. With adults, I often treat couples and relationship issues, including dating and separation and divorce.
I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ clients and have advanced training in working with transgender teens and young adults in both individual and family therapy. I also enjoy working with issues surrounding same sex couples around issues of parenting and adoption.
