My treatments are feminist-, multicultural-, and liberation-informed and I am active in creating a non-judgmental, anti-racist, and decolonized therapy experience for clients with a variety of lived experiences and identities.
Looking to improve your sport/mental performance? Better understand your gender, sexuality, or relationship identity? Process a history of trauma? Our stories are our greatest power, and yet, can be difficult to share. I am a Clinical Sport Psychologist who encourages clients to tell their stories (yes, even the ugly stuff!) as accurately and meaningfully as possible to pave a path for moving forward. I equally recognize that not all mental health concerns are individually determined, and encourage clients to explore the impact of their social, intergenerational, and environmental histories and resources to promote healing/growth.

I use an integrative, multicultural, trauma-informed approach that is mainly based on, but not exclusive to, person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and somatic techniques.
I seek to destigmatize mental healthcare for all populations and provide a safe space where my clients feel seen and heard to navigate their relationships with themselves and others. As a South Asian American and daughter of immigrants, I have first hand experience of the deep effects that family of origin and cultural conflicts have on your lived experiences. I provide support for my clients in being their authentic selves and help them develop the skills they need to thrive. I want my clients to have an empathetic space to explore their challenges, process their thoughts and emotions, and experience healing.

I identify as a multicultural counselor first, am an ally and advocate for diverse populations and the LGBTQIA+ community, and love working with all clients in an open and caring environment.
I believe in the counseling process; the space it opens internally and the shifting it can provide for clients and families on their life's journey. With over a decade of counseling children and adolescents in Metro Nashville Public Schools, I have a unique and expansive experience working with children, adolescents, and their families as they find togetherness, and themselves.

"Life can often feel like a lonely journey full of obstacles and challenges. I am passionate about providing a non-judgmental environment during your journey of finding health and grace. I strive to provide a space where our "masks of perfection", and performance can rest. By honoring unmet attachment needs, we are able to uncover our deepest hurts and desires. As a multicultural therapist, I value every individual that enters my office. I desire to validate traumas that occurred form sexual abuse, childhood trauma , and relational anxiety. The overarching goal is the freedom that awaits when you find yourself again."

BIPOC therapist - couples therapy and individual therapy. I come from a multicultural and bilingual background. I’m particularly interested in working with marginalized populations. Clients like you scroll profiles to find a therapist that might get them. At least a little. You need help in the major things of life (relationships, transitions, hardships). When you look for a therapist, you need someone that knows what it’s like to be a person of color. That gives some safety and reassurance. In order to really open up - you have to find the right fit.

I have worked extensively with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral issues, personality disorders, relationship and family issues, grief and loss, anger issues, and multicultural issues.
You and I both know that life can feel unbelievably messy, unpredictable and chaotic. It's easy to get lost in the frenetic juggling of home life, work life and relationships. You can lose your sense of purpose, direction and even who you are. Experiencing some measure of difficulty, distress and pain IS life, but what happens when your usual ways of coping no longer work? It can be all too easy to surrender to the unrelenting waves of frustration, despair and disillusionment when faced with difficult experiences.

My approach incorporates various counseling models including cognitive, behavioral, multicultural, and systems because I believe that one size does not fit all.
Do you have the "perfect life" but it feels like something is missing? Do you struggle with relating to other people and making friends? Is it difficult for you to set boundaries at work and say no to others? On the outside, people might envy you for your hard work and dedication. What they don't see is the overwhelming pressure that you put on yourself to succeed. You might also struggle with feeling confident in your decisions, have a strained relationship with your family and friends, and find that your life lacks fulfillment. If this resonates with you, I'm interested in helping you find more satisfaction and peace in your life.

I also specialize in multicultural counseling.
Accepting Clients: As an EMDR-trained trauma therapist, I help teens, adults, and couples explore pain, expose fear, and experience healing in a real and lasting way. You're probably thinking that something has got to change. You feel stuck, empty, hurt, angry, or just altogether lost in a sea of overwhelming feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. You've been nervous to ask for help, let alone discuss, the difficulties of navigating life and trying to "keep it all together" when things don't feel right at all. It's time to try something new!

There is a stigma that seeking counseling is weak or only for those who are going through “really hard things” - both of those statements are simply not true. Taking time to focus on who you are and pouring into your mental health is a great way to love yourself. With that being said, it takes a great amount of vulnerability, humility, courage, and hope to open up to someone about things you may have never talked to anyone about before. My desire as a counselor is to build trust and help you feel safe and comfortable as we work together.

Arriving at the place of wholeness oftentimes is a journey. That path has “detours” and “construction” blocks along the way. Some of us barrel through those and some of us turn around. Either direction leaves us in a place where we need healing. We all have the strength to conquer our adversities and I want to partner with you.

I believe there is nothing more significant and worth honoring than being heard and unconditionally accepted. My goal in therapy is to be focused on creating space and time for each person to be just that- heard and unconditionally accepted. Although the human experience is full of events and emotions that can create hazes, I believe we know ourselves more deeply and more truly than anyone else.

Prior to beginning clinical practice, I taught high school students in Metro Nashville where I was fortunate to learn from the resiliency of young people. This invaluable time eventually lead me to pursuing counseling. My clinical experience has primarily been within community centers serving diverse populations, which has informed my perspective as a culturally-competent, dynamic practitioner. Areas of clinical focus are academic issues, addiction, anxiety, codependency, depression, LGBTQ+ identities, life transitions, PTSD, and trauma.

Multicultural Therapists

What type of therapy is multicultural therapy?

Multicultural therapy is not tied to any specific therapy; rather, it is an overarching approach to therapy that aims to acknowledge and address the influence that factors like race, gender identity, and cultural background can have on someone’s life. Multicultural approaches can be applied to CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and others, and can be practiced with individuals, couples, families, or groups.

What can I expect from multicultural therapy?

Multicultural counseling should be tailored to the client’s unique identity and cultural needs. Such approaches often prioritize the building of trust so that the client feels comfortable exploring various aspects of their identity and any challenges caused by mismatches between their identity and the dominant culture. Beyond that, the format and timeline of therapy will be heavily influenced by the therapist’s preferred therapy approach and the specific problems for which the client sought therapy.

Can multicultural therapy help treat trauma?

Yes. Cultural factors such as racial background, gender identity and or sexuality, and immigration or refugee status can influence both whether someone experiences trauma and how they cope afterward. Multicultural approaches to trauma-informed care will be aware of these influences, helping the client recognize how their response to trauma may be shaped by their cultural background and identify coping mechanisms that take their identity into account.

What are the benefits of seeing a multicultural therapist?

Members of minority groups who seek therapy are sometimes frustrated by providers who don’t understand their cultural background or dismiss the ways in which race, gender, or other facets of their identity influence their lived experience. Seeing a multicultural therapist can help these clients feel seen, understood, and able to develop solutions to life challenges that take their upbringing, beliefs, and past experiences into account.
