I see my role as a psychotherapist as that of the catalyst for change. I integrate therapeutic techniques to foster a safe, non-judgmental counseling environment where clients are able to do their internal work. The approaches I utilize include Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Mind/Body Awareness. My roles in life have included being an elementary and middle school educator, caregiver, spouse, parent of adult children, and most recently grandparent. I'm experienced in the dynamics of the ever-evolving family system.

I am a trained mental health therapist currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology. I had experiences working with children, youth, young and older adults as well as working with couples and groups. Many of my clients have experienced loneliness, live in-between cultures, or hold marginalized identities. My areas of interests include multicultural identity development, cross-cultural adaptation & transition, interracial/interethnic relationships, family & relationships issues, trauma, perfectionism, stress management, suicide & crisis, anxiety & depression. I am also bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese Hokkien.

I'm a licensed therapist in Georgia with over 25 years of Experience. I have worked with a diverse population in various settings. I use Art Therapy, Coaching, Expressive Arts, Mindfulness-Based, Multicultural, Person-centered, Solution Focused, Strength Based, Motivational Interviewing, and Christian Counseling. Some of my specialties are ADHD, anger management, career counseling, codependency, coping skills, family conflict, depression, LGBTQ issues, job stress, peer relationships, women’s issues, school issues, and mood disorders. I use each methodology to help clients develop healthy coping skills to meet their goals.

Although I have worked with people across all ages, demographics, and backgrounds, I specialize in working with people ages 18-40. I offer individual and relationship counseling, and specialize in helping people work through life transitions, relationship issues, concerns with sex, anxiety, depression, and gender and sexuality exploration. I like to work collaboratively with clients to develop and reach their goals in whatever way works best for them. While my approach is rooted in the psychodynamic theory, I like using humor and techniques from the CBT, ACT, person-centered, and multicultural/feminist theories.

I am very warm, personable, engaged and direct without being directive. I will meet you wherever you are and I am flexible in my approach. I help people with relationship concerns, life transitions, experiencing new, uncomfortable symptoms/diagnoses, or sorting through years of accumulated, old stressors. I can help to deepen your understanding and acceptance of yourself and your relationships.

I know that reaching out for therapy support can be a scary, yet tremendous first step. You don't have to go through the process alone. Together, we'll create a warm, healthy therapeutic relationship. I want to understand from your point of view. I'll also help you to identify things that can be changed within your environments to help resolve conflicts and alleviate feelings of frustration, anger, sadness, stress and anxiety. Although I offer specialized support to clients of color (See the Client Focus section of my profile), my expertise is multicultural counseling, and my clients are from all ethnic backgrounds.

My areas of clinical focus are around men's issues and with members of the LGBTQ community. I'm committed to providing a safe and affirming environment where you can process your feelings, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable. I'm not the kind of psychologist who sits silently and nods while you do all the work. I'm an active therapist and work collaboratively to help you increase self-awareness and identify a healthier path. Additionally, I draw on different theoretical approaches to adapt my work to your needs, but work primarily from a relational psychodynamic perspective.

At times, it can be difficult to admit to ourselves when we are in need of help. It can be even more difficult to admit this to someone else. Counseling, however, creates a safe space to share struggles, fears, feelings, experiences, and more. Counseling can provide peace of mind in good times or bad. As a counselor it is my goal to provide you with a space that is warm and welcoming, and one which you can come as you are! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Master Addiction Counselor, and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Georgia with over twelve years of experience providing psychotherapy. My passion is to serve others through, training, education and supervision. I am currently open to providing supervision to other counselors working on becoming fully licensed.

I am a relational psychotherapist, which means that I believe relationships (with family, friends, coworkers, higher powers, our relationship with our self, etc.) often play a role in our suffering and, yet, also play a crucial role in our healing. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I graduated from Mercer University with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. After 5 years of working in community mental health both at the inpatient and outpatient levels I have gained invaluable experience working with individuals from multicultural backgrounds. My experience includes treating individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, grief, postpartum, racial issues, substance abuse, and more.

I am passionate about helping women transform how they feel about themselves, their intimate relationships and living a more deeply authentic and meaningful life. Working collaboratively I will assist you in finding your voice, stepping fully into wisdom and empower you to create a life of passion and purpose. For women who struggle with anxiety my approach combines integrative mind-body techniques with cognitive behavioral therapy, and a strengths-based approach.

I genuinely believe in human resiliency and that we are capable of overcoming any hurdles life throws our way. I utilize a multicultural worldview in my work, as I understand the impact of family, culture, systems and community on how we experience and show up in the world. I have over a decade of experience specifically working with survivors of all forms of trauma as well as individuals experiencing challenges functioning in their daily lives. I have also supported immigrants, international students, and expats as they navigate the challenges of acculturation and living in a new culture, an experience that I know too well.

My approach to counseling is a collaborative effort between my client and myself to work towards goals that align with the client's values, beliefs and aspirations. I utilize mindfulness based cognitive therapy to help my clients set specific and achievable goals while teaching techniques and coping mechanisms to relieve the client's current symptoms. I provide counseling from a multicultural lens based in my experience as a biracial woman with an immigrant parent. I'm also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and have worked extensively with people coping with disabling and chronic conditions.
