I bring a valuable multicultural perspective to my practice and work.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief in the healing power of authentic self-expression within a safe and nurturing setting.I offer a non-judgmental space for clients to explore their strengths and challenges. I employ trauma-informed care to facilitate recovery, and my practice is underpinned by a commitment to social justice and multicultural sensitivity. I recognize the complexities of identity and the unique challenges faced during acculturation. I assist clients in navigating these issues without re-traumatization, fostering resilience, and self-expression.

I have training in many different therapeutic orientations and help individuals that have depressive symptoms, anxiety, relational issues, adjustment disorders, grief, medical issues, trauma, self-esteem problems, racial identity, and multicultural issues.
ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS across the U.S. (Psypact states). Life can get stressful and hard at times, so can navigating societal, work, and family issues especially if you’re a person of color, immigrant, child of immigrants or LGBTQIA. Life transitions also require us to accept change but sometimes that may be hard and we can feel “stuck”. My priority is to help you achieve YOUR goals in a way that resonates with who you are, your beliefs, and with your values. I have extensive years of clinical, research, and assessment experience and will provide evidence-based treatment in a supportive, accepting, and collaborative relationship.

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, confused, frustrated, discouraged, disappointed, lost, anxious, sad or angry, you are not alone. Most of us experience those feelings at some point in our lives. We care about the people we serve, and we believe every person is individual, authentic, and unique. We use evidence-based practice (EBP) methods for mental health to help children, pre-teens, teenagers, adults, couples, and families to live their best lives. We understand that therapy can seem scary and intimidating, though we know that finding the support you need is the key to starting the self- healing process.

It is not always easy to admit when we need help – and then to ask for it. Taking the step to seek therapy is an important one, and I want to help make it a positive experience for you. Sometimes our worlds on the inside and on the outside can leave us with overwhelming feelings that may not be easy to manage on our own, and you don’t have to. As you work with me, you will find that I am compassionate and easy to talk to. I support clients in a number of areas, including: trauma; questions around identity and expression; relationships; family of origin; life transitions; anxiety; and depression, to name a few.

Welcome to YOUR space of growth, if you accept, my dear fellow Human! You are capable of everything you desire for yourself & your inner world - change, healing, empowerment, upliftment, release, fulfillment, peace, liberation, & anything else your spirit truly yearns for. In this moment, Life may be immensely challenging you, but somehow you may still be exactly where you are supposed to be. At this fragile place where our paths converge I lay out in front of you this question: How can your mental wellness be truly supported right now, in the unique way YOU require?

I believe the goal of therapy is to help individuals live their most authentic and fulfilling lives. This includes exploring themselves, their relationships to others, and their place in the world. Within the context of a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, individuals can develop self-awareness and identify patterns they desire to change. Using empathy, direct feedback, and skill building, I believe individuals can heal, grow, and enjoy their lives more fully. I practice using an integrative approach grounded in psychodynamic and relational theories as well as incorporating mindfulness techniques.

You find yourself consumed by your thoughts, generally future-tripping or ruminating about the past. It's a real struggle to be present and focus. Your thought process is exhausting; decisions are hard to make and you lack clarity. It's as if you lost yourself somewhere along the way and feel disconnected from your authentic self. I understand what you are experiencing and I want you to know, there is hope! I guide people struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, fear, and self-doubt to get unstuck, find inner calm, build confidence, and re-connect to their amazing, radiant, and joyful self so they can move forward in their lives.

Multicultural Therapists

What type of therapy is multicultural therapy?

Multicultural therapy is not tied to any specific therapy; rather, it is an overarching approach to therapy that aims to acknowledge and address the influence that factors like race, gender identity, and cultural background can have on someone’s life. Multicultural approaches can be applied to CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and others, and can be practiced with individuals, couples, families, or groups.

What can I expect from multicultural therapy?

Multicultural counseling should be tailored to the client’s unique identity and cultural needs. Such approaches often prioritize the building of trust so that the client feels comfortable exploring various aspects of their identity and any challenges caused by mismatches between their identity and the dominant culture. Beyond that, the format and timeline of therapy will be heavily influenced by the therapist’s preferred therapy approach and the specific problems for which the client sought therapy.

Can multicultural therapy help treat trauma?

Yes. Cultural factors such as racial background, gender identity and or sexuality, and immigration or refugee status can influence both whether someone experiences trauma and how they cope afterward. Multicultural approaches to trauma-informed care will be aware of these influences, helping the client recognize how their response to trauma may be shaped by their cultural background and identify coping mechanisms that take their identity into account.

What are the benefits of seeing a multicultural therapist?

Members of minority groups who seek therapy are sometimes frustrated by providers who don’t understand their cultural background or dismiss the ways in which race, gender, or other facets of their identity influence their lived experience. Seeing a multicultural therapist can help these clients feel seen, understood, and able to develop solutions to life challenges that take their upbringing, beliefs, and past experiences into account.
