We are all wired for relationships and we long to connect with the people we love. Our relationships affect the way we think and feel about ourselves and our world. Eventually, we develop patterns of thinking that influence our emotions, behaviors, and even our physical experience. Sometimes, these patterns create problems, bring us hurt and pain, and keep us from reaching our goals.

I provide all Level 1 services ( ACT): Assessment, Course, and Treatment, including Prime for Life, counseling, and DUI support.
As a Licensed Addiction Counselor, State-Approved Level 1 Provider, and a person in long-term recovery, I understand how addiction can turn life into a painful cycle. You tell yourself today will be different, but drinking or using leads to more regret, broken promises, and shame. You may feel stuck and keep trying to change on your own, only to end up in the same place. Whether you are seeking help for yourself or facing legal requirements, you do not have to keep doing this alone.

You’re in the aftermath. Maybe you just discovered your partner’s betrayal - infidelity, porn addiction, emotional secrecy - and everything you thought you could count on feels uncertain. Or maybe you’re the one who broke trust and are now watching the consequences unfold, unsure how to rebuild. Whatever side of the rupture you’re on, I know how overwhelming it can be. As someone who’s walked this path personally and now helps others do the same, I offer a steady, structured space to begin healing without shame or pressure.

Hi! I am currently seeing clients in person in Helena and providing telehealth across Western Montana. I am a relationship-oriented therapist striving to accept clients unconditionally wherever they are at in life. I believe (and research supports) therapy works best when client and therapist work together toward understanding the origins of dissatisfaction and finding freedom to truly be oneself. This process makes possible change that enhances the relationship with oneself and with others. I work with clients to develop greater openness to experience and greater capacity for the complexity of a richly lived life.

Most of the struggles people bring into my office — the addiction, the anxiety, the relationships that keep falling apart — started somewhere deeper. I've spent nearly two decades helping people trace those patterns back to where they began and build something different from there. I'm direct. I'll tell you what I see. And I'll be in it with you the whole way.

You deserve to feel like yourself again!
Maybe you’ve spent so long trying to hold everything together that you barely recognize yourself anymore. Anxiety, relationship struggles, past experiences, or constant self-doubt can leave you feeling emotionally exhausted and disconnected from the person you want to be.
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’ve been disappointed, misunderstood, or taught to push your feelings aside. At Eden Mental Health and Wellness, therapy is meant to feel grounded, collaborative, and safe.

If you've tried talk therapy, meditation, and other cognitive approaches yet keep lapsing into old cycles, it's time to try something new! Our "state drives story," meaning our nervous system and primitive brain directs our thinking; often, it's not the other way around. Also, the healing journey is not a one-size-fits-all experience, so I draw on my training in EMDR, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, attachment therapy, somatic therapy, wilderness therapy, Polyvagal theory, and addictions counseling to best meet you where you are in your process. You can heal and thrive through experiential therapies.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
