I’m an Asian-American woman who lived in Tokyo, Japan for 6 years.
Soul School comes from the belief that as humans, we come with lessons to learn in this lifetime. Change can be terrifying to face. We don't have to do it alone. It takes courage to be here and taking steps towards receiving support in your healing. I work primarily with those who are willing to dive deep and are curious and motivated for change. Folks who may already have some insight or awareness, but are in need of a non-judgmental safe space to discuss it all and receive support in organizing their internal world to create a sense of understanding, peace, and alignment with their true selves.

Taking time to care for ourselves through therapy is a radical act in the world we live in.

I have a perspective that is unique. With years of experience in psychotherapy, an analytical approach to making meaning of the world, and my deep experiencing with the existential and spiritual side of life- I offer guidance and support that is balanced, direct, and action oriented. There are many times we need a safe space to be held in order to reach deeper emotions that lead to healing, however being seen and understood is not always enough to bring about the changes that will truly change your life. Being seen and held are just some pieces of the journey to a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

I believe that psychotherapy is an active process resulting in clarity and change. It can help identify ineffective patterns of thinking and behavior, which may create stress, emotional problems, stress related medical problems, addiction problems, and/or relationship problems. Sometimes the work can be difficult but can also be profoundly rewarding and life changing. I believe in the power of positive change and would love to help you turn your stress into a life balance.

You are deserving of the time and space it takes to heal and grow. Many of us find ourselves 'surviving' rather than 'living' at times; mindlessly wandering day-to-day questioning our purpose, wondering where the passion has gone. Whether it’s due to a major life adjustment, depression, anxiety, grief, or simply feeling stuck. If you are navigating a difficult moment or a recent challenge, know that you can expect a safe, confidential environment to explore your thoughts and emotions. Together, we can work toward finding your path to healing and renewal.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
