I use a collaborative, client-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to help clients achieve goals related to living a healthy, satisfying life. I have a particular interest in working with trauma, including single incidents, recurring events, relational dynamics, and other types of distressing or disturbing events that can overwhelm our nervous system and impact our ability to experience well-being. I also work with a variety of other concerns including anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

We as humans experience life’s highest highs, lowest lows, and everything in between. I work collaboratively with clients to make meaning out of whatever life sends your way- my clients and I create a trusting relationship to explore any emotions, thoughts, or sensations that arise. I believe life is all about connection and relationships: the one we have with ourselves, others, our environment, our spirit/soul or higher power however you decide to identify such to be of utmost importance. I also believe that our traumas and our own fears often put ourselves in our own way. Therapy, having someone accompany us on life's journey, can be a very helpful avenue in providing a safe and supportive context to look at ourselves, the opportunity to deepen our self-understanding and reflect on our choices as well as carves out time to evaluate our lives from another perspective.

Welcome! I am so glad that you’ve made it here. Should you be reading this, you may currently be experiencing anxiety, sadness, loneliness, loss, or other overwhelming emotions. As humans who experience pain, we often work so hard to avoid those painful emotions, which often leads to greater distress and feelings of living inauthentically. I work with individuals to acknowledge their emotions, to come to a greater understanding of their emotional experience, and to navigate paths towards healing and growth. You are very worthy of this pursuit.

Every one of us is unique and knowing that, I practice from an individualized and holistic point of view. I am also a trained herbalist and have seen clients in that capacity since 2019. I believe my training in that realm allows for a more enriched and informed view of healing and recovery. My ideal client is someone who knows the potential to be the best version of themselves is there, but they may be just stuck in a patten of addictive cycles. They are open to sharing, willing to put in the work and try new things. I look at your diet, lifestyle, life experiences, family history and more to create a personalized plan.

We are all inherently worthy, resilient, and hard-wired to be connected to others; we also inevitably face suffering in life which can create barriers to these aspects of ourselves. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my mission is to work alongside you - to be present, deeply listen, and assist you in coming back to the core parts of who you are; to help you transform your suffering into contentment and wholeness. I will be present for whatever you bring to our therapy space and support you in harnessing your power to create the change you want to see in your life.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
