I've completed advanced trainings in behavioral addictions (gambling, internet, sex, pornography), domestic violence offender rehabilitation, and gender-affirming care.
From our first phone call, my priority is building a genuine, safe, and unique relationship with you. I'm passionate about men’s mental health, LGBTQ clients, and anyone who's ready to journey deep into the root cause of what brings them to counseling. I often work with anxiety, trauma, panic, OCD, persistent depression, domestic abuse and violence, addictive behaviors, sex and pornography concerns, self-harm, and self-discovery. But before I see any of the issues on this list, I see you as a fellow human being. Our therapeutic relationship is at the core of every insight, skill, or change that might result from our work together.

I work with people in seasons of change who are exploring gender or sexuality, leaving old roles, or redefining what fulfillment means.
Many come to therapy with anxiety, depression, or relationship strain during these transitions.
They may feel torn between safety and growth, which is an experience I understand firsthand as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Many of my clients also struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, executive dysfunction, self-criticism, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others.
My role is to offer a grounded, compassionate space to see old patterns clearly and build the courage to live more fully.

I work primarily with queer, transgender, and gender non-conforming clients.
I help adults work through relationship challenges, identity questions, feelings of hopelessness, and traumatic events. I acknowledge in therapy the stress and violence of living in our current society. While being in therapy cannot prevent us from experiencing oppression and burnout.

A central focus of my counseling practice is providing affirmative and anti-oppressive support to transgender, non-binary and gender diverse people of all ages, as well as the queer community more broadly.
My approach to counseling emphasizes the importance of early attachment experiences and trauma, both of which have a profound impact on our ability to regulate our emotions, have relationships with others, and feel good about ourselves. I also think about how our identities (race, gender, etc.) impact how we understand ourselves and how others treat us.

I offer a space where you can slow down and begin to make sense of what’s been weighing on you—whether it’s overwhelm, relationship struggles, a general sense of feeling off balance or a deeper depression. Therapy with me is guided by curiosity, an open mind, and a belief that change happens through the mind/body connection. Rather than focusing on short-term solutions, we’ll take time to uncover the root causes of patterns in thoughts, feelings and behaviors that shape how you move through the world. As we process unresolved past experiences, we’ll discover practical ways to respond to challenges for lasting, meaningful change.

Trying to navigate life today is challenging. Having someone to talk to may be the first step. Thank you for taking time to read this. As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.
What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.
How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.
How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
