Please note: I do not have openings for new clients. I work with adults who are struggling with day to day stresses, life transitions or survivors of trauma. I have worked within the fields of trauma and mental health for over 20 years. I believe the foundation of belonging, sense of well-being and change is grounded in relationships, how we interact and how we are supported by others. Whether you are struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety, family conflict or past experience with trauma, I view my role as someone who is neutral and a facilitator of the process in which self-worth is strengthened and persons supported.

In an increasingly digitalized, isolated, and seemingly meaningless world, it can be so difficult to find connection, purpose, and identity. In addition to treating specific mental health issues, therapy is also a space to wrestle with the big (and small!) questions in life. Let me be your mental sparring partner as we figure out possible answers to life's challenges.

I believe each us embody an innate wisdom and deep knowing of our strengths and beauty. Sometimes when we experience stress or unexpected change we can lose touch with a positive sense of self and the resources that allow us to thrive in a challenging world. A compassionate, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship strengthens our ability to move through some of our most challenging moments. Together, we will create the conditions for vulnerability and authenticity in a mutual effort to undergo the difficult work of personal transformation.

I work with people in seasons of change who are exploring gender or sexuality, leaving old roles, or redefining what fulfillment means.
Many come to therapy with anxiety, depression, or relationship strain during these transitions.
They may feel torn between safety and growth, which is an experience I understand firsthand as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Many of my clients also struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, executive dysfunction, self-criticism, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others.
My role is to offer a grounded, compassionate space to see old patterns clearly and build the courage to live more fully.

I practice a relational form of counseling, which means I weigh heavily on how and why our relationships develop while taking into consideration the mental, physical and emotional associations we draw or conclude from these relationships. The relationship between therapist and client, the relationships you have had over the course of your life, issues and/or concepts you have faced or struggled with, and, most importantly, the relationship you have with yourself are all focal points for counseling. Trust and building rapport with your therapist is paramount and I work to cultivate an environment that promotes respect and self-exploration.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
