Goals can include feeling calmer and more confident, improving communication, strengthening relationships with caregivers and peers, and building resilience to navigate everyday stressors.

OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, parenting, relationships: all of these can feel heavy, hopeless, and stressful.
Accepting New Clients. What a time to be alive in our world! Is your world feeling overwhelming, stressful, heavy, dark? Maybe you're overthinking, checking, ruminating, or feeling stuck. Saturated in negativity or sadness. Unsure how to find your light, much less reignite it. It isn't easy being human! We all get frustrated, and it can be hard to know how to feel better, how to thrive, not just survive. We often forget how to nourish ourselves, our light, joy, and self-worth. Or maybe no one taught you. Therapy and learning new skills and ways to think and be, can be a catalyst to thriving.

I approach counseling from a person-centered and cognitive behavioral perspective. There are times in life when everything seems to be going well and there are times when we may face challenges or encounter adversity. As a counselor, I believe in supporting the whole person in a safe and judgment free environment as we examine not only the challenges, but the beliefs and cognitions surrounding those challenges. I believe in getting to know you in order to understand your perceptions and the expertise you have within you regarding your own life and experiences.

While our primary work is relational, I also integrate targeted, evidence-based tools when helpful, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for clients navigating OCD.
Now offering Bozeman in person appointments on Thursdays. Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck in painful patterns, or exhausted by the pressure to meet unrealistic expectations? Our deepest struggles, whether anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, depression, or faith transition, are often tied to how we connect with others and view ourselves. I specialize in relational therapy, exploring how early experiences shape your current life. Rather than just treating surface symptoms, we will collaboratively understand the root causes of your distress, address internal self-criticism, and identify the relationship dynamics keeping you stuck.

I am also trained to work with OCD and use exposure response prevention with clients as needed.
Do you yearn to feel a sense of ease and peace in your life? Have you instead been feeling drained and on edge? Together we can get curious and explore what is disrupting your natural flow - your ability to live soulfully and in alignment with your true desires. We will create space for you to explore your past wounds and attachments, to mourn your losses, and to build tolerance for the intensity of feelings that emerge when realities are truly faced. Something may need to be tended to and released so that you can find inspiration and meaning in life again.

How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
