Our work will incorporate any or all of the following: mindfulness, somatic interventions, inter-personal neurobiology,
family
of origin work, compassion focused, acceptance, authentic dialogue, EMDR, IFS informed therapy, yoga, movement, music, nature, community, and more.
The most important part of therapy is that you connect/feel safe with your therapist, and finding that therapist can be difficult, especially right now. Call or send me an email to arrange a free consultation and lets see if we think we're a good fit. Trust yourself, ask questions, you've come this far, you will find someone that seems right for you. Life is hard at the moment and you're probably ready for something to change, but what? I advocate for fierce joy, tolerating uncertainty and loss, digging deep, genuine relationships, holding ourselves accountable, playing to strengths, & being compassionate about our challenges.

Let's be honest, most of us wouldn't go back to our adolescent years even if someone paid us to do so. Growing up is hard and life throws a lot at children, teens, and young adults. It is not uncommon to feel many conflicting ways about adolescence (and often times many conflicting ways at once). The things we face as we grow up impact our ability to engage, succeed, and feel accepted in our
family
life, our friend and peer circles, and in our academic sphere. It is my distinct honor to work with adolescents as they navigate some of the toughest years of life.

Your child and your
family
are worth it.
The teenage years can be really tough on teens AND their parents. Changes happen that can throw their emotions on a rollercoaster -- sadness, worry or anger can take over. Friends can push a teen toward dangerous choices. Add on the stress of high school, early romantic relationships, working towards independence, and there are all sorts of places that a teenager can struggle. It takes a special sort of counselor to work with a teen. Someone who is serious and kind when they struggle, but keeps a sense of humor, wonder and joy that can connect with them past those struggles.

I use IFS (Internal
Family
Systems) therapy as a powerful tool for addressing patterns and behaviors that are no longer working for a person or a couple.
I have been studying and working in mental health for 23 years since 1999. Emotional suffering due to relational conflict, anxiety and depression are some of the main reasons people seek therapy. When people engage fully in the therapeutic process, they can often experience moments of transformation that can be profound and or subtle in which their experience of suffering is either alleviated or their attitude towards their situation shifts in meaningful ways. My training and experiences as a clinical psychologist can help you to reduce your pain and how you relate to the difficult experiences or people in your life.

Our systems – from our own bodies to the
family
and societal systems of which we are a part – are incredibly resourceful and complex. They carry templates and memories of past emboided and inter-generational experiences. And while our systems are adaptive and responsive, sometimes their best attempts at solving life’s challenges fall flat. In some cases, particularly where there has been acute or developmental trauma, old templates provoke pernicious repetitions – such as immobility in behaviors/relationships, or replacement of one unhelpful behavior/relationship for another equally unsatisfactory one.

Hi I am Lili. Getting started with a counselor can be intimidating. Please don't hesitate to call me for a free initial conversation and I can help find appropriate resources and help. I really enjoy working with a variety of people; appreciate challenges and am comfortable with facing difficult situations with my clients. I enjoy humor, depth and a straight forward approach to counseling. I have been in private practice for 19 years. Couples therapy and grief work are two of my specialties. Having lost my husband when I was young and having raised my children as a single parent I understand this pain intimately.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
