Life-changing events are happening everyday of our life whether good or bad. I believe there are three fundamentals that are necessary in achieving mental healthiness. They are self-love, purpose, and value; without these attributes this could bring about some form of mental discord. I specialize in working with people who are striving to live a more meaningful life consisting of internal healing. I treat individuals who struggle with anger, depression, PTSD, self-esteem, trauma, other everyday life issues, and interpersonal concerns. Clients are unique individuals with different needs. Therefore, you are the expert of yourself.

I believe all people are doing the best they can with what they have, and that no one has to be stuck in their current circumstances. I work with individuals, couples, and families to empower them to be a little better today than they were yesterday. I work to help my clients find the root of the problem, to determine the best path to healing and to improve their life and relationships.

We all have those times in our lives when things get out of balance. Our goal is to help our clients return to that sense of balance and happiness that may be missing. We offer a variety of therapies and programs to help people achieve balance emotionally, physically and even spiritually. We provide individual, group and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults. Although, our model is varied we utilize cognitive behavioral therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help people change their perceptions and learn skills to better manage their emotions and lives to return to a sense of balance.

She assists them in discovering their self-worth, ways to cope with the difficulties they have faced in life, and processing the trauma they’ve experienced. Upon meeting Kim, clients will immediately feel her compassionate, warm, caring nature as she creates a safe, non-judgmental space for healing. During Kim’s counseling career, she has worked with pre-adolescents, ages eight and up, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, behavioral concerns, family dysfunction, and mood disorders.

My sole purpose as a counselor is to help guide my clients through the struggles that so many of us must learn to navigate. Since each of us walks a unique path in pursuit of happiness and mental health, I believe in working together with clients to find their best answers.

Children and youth sometimes have much more difficulty expressing their feelings in an appropriate way in than adults. It is difficult to watch your child suffer with anxiety, depression, stress, or any variety of situations that impact daily living. Children and youth may not have learned how to express emotions due to varying reasons. The goal is to improve coping skills, confidence, and the ability for all children and adolescents to navigate big emotions and difficult emotions in a healthy manner.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Person-Centered therapy in which the relationship between client and clinician is a priority and is based in mutual trust and respect, empathy and congruence. I use integrative techniques in every session to meet the unique needs of each client, such as CBT, trauma-informed therapy and mindfulness-based therapy. I believe that individuals are experts on themselves and because of this I take a collaborative approach in working with clients, utilizing what is known as Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) to get client input in evaluating progress and clients’ needs.

My ideal client is one that wants help, seeks help and is receptive to help.

I work with children with autism and related disorders and their families! I conduct comprehensive evaluations to provide an appropriate diagnosis and develop treatment goals. In addition, I provide behavioral therapy through parent training models to help make long lasting change.

Julie helps clients create self-love to see their true value, increase self-esteem, and decrease insecurities. She has extensive experience in grief counseling to help clients coping with loss, not just death, but loss in general. She works clients to guide them in the loss of independence, health status, divorce, infertility/miscarriages, suicide of a loved one, and many others. She has experience working with clients who aren't adherent with their healthcare and addressing those barriers, which is typically depression, feeling overwhelmed, and difficulty adjusting. Julie has worked with many diverse populations.

I am a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified WRAP facilitator. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders from Jackson State University. I have experience working with teens and adults in a wide range of ages and I have a wide variety of experience working with clients experiencing crisis or disruption in their lives.
