I currently work with clients who have a history of trauma, Complex PTSD, sexual abuse/incest, anxiety, depression,
grief
and
loss
, adjustment difficulties, an array of women's issues, and adults with a history of family dysfunctional behavior patterns.
If you are reading this it is evident you are searching for solutions to life issues and challenges. As a therapist my primary goal is to provide clients with a safe and judgement free space where they feel free to express needs, desires, and concerns. I work closely with all clients to assist them in gaining the personal insight and self-awareness necessary to identify thought patterns, behavior patterns, and relationship patterns that consistently create difficulty and make change appear impossible. Change is never impossible or out of reach when clients have hope. Hope does not disappoint!

Life is about relationships: Couples, Marriage, Families, Friends, Co-Workers. However, broken promises, lost love, abandonment, endless conflict, lack of trust, addictions,
loss

Using specialized methods of counseling, we can help you avoid misunderstandings, improve communication, heal past hurts, understand one another better and strengthen the relationships that make life important.

It is scary to take that first step to seek help. From the moment you enter my office, you will have no doubt that your decision to seek help was the right one. I have experience working with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, identity issues,
grief
and
loss
, and trauma.
One step at a time and before you know it, you’ll be doing the impossible! Meeting you where you are with full acceptance, non-judgement and compassion. Show me the way you see the world and how it’s been shaped by your life experience. If you see the sky as purple, I’m more interested in understanding why you see it that way, instead of convincing you to see it the way I do.

I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of practice settings over the past 20 years. My primary area of interest and training is working with children under the age of 10 dealing with issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, autism, developmental delay, divorce,
grief
, medical issues, behavioral problems, and more. I believe children have limitless potential for growth and they have an innate capacity for resiliency. I also believe that parents and primary caregivers play a critical role in a child's recovery and a joint approach to working with children is essential to healing.

I'm so glad you're considering taking this next step. Life is challenging and often interrupted by stress, relationship challenges, and
loss
. We all crave a fulfilling life that is full of hope, connection, and meaning. Relationships with a spouse, partner, child, parent, siblings, roommates, and even co-workers are central to our emotional well-being. I have advanced training in EFT which focuses on creating connections. These close relationships often create a significant amount of stress, pain, and even loneliness, isolation and trauma. I also have advanced training in CPT trauma therapy to help people heal from trauma.

I love Mississippi and I love meeting the people who live here. I believe everyone has a story and I consider it an honor to be in a position to hear those stories. I come from a Christian perspective and the interventions I use are congruent with my beliefs and values. The primary interventions I use are from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and other proven family therapy models. I do not impose my personal beliefs and values onto my clients. This process is about you, not me.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
