I currently work with clients who have a history of trauma, Complex PTSD, sexual abuse/incest,
anxiety
, depression, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, an array of women's issues, and adults with a history of family dysfunctional behavior patterns.
If you are reading this it is evident you are searching for solutions to life issues and challenges. As a therapist my primary goal is to provide clients with a safe and judgement free space where they feel free to express needs, desires, and concerns. I work closely with all clients to assist them in gaining the personal insight and self-awareness necessary to identify thought patterns, behavior patterns, and relationship patterns that consistently create difficulty and make change appear impossible. Change is never impossible or out of reach when clients have hope. Hope does not disappoint!

I have experience working with clients who are struggling with depression,
anxiety
, life transitions, identity issues, grief and loss, and trauma.
One step at a time and before you know it, you’ll be doing the impossible! Meeting you where you are with full acceptance, non-judgement and compassion. Show me the way you see the world and how it’s been shaped by your life experience. If you see the sky as purple, I’m more interested in understanding why you see it that way, instead of convincing you to see it the way I do.

" I believe that it is our unhealthy attempts to cope with pain by consciously, and unconsciously, finding ways to avoid it that keep us locked in our neurotic prisons of depression,
anxiety
, and addiction.
Life is a beautiful journey but it's path is undeniably filled with "pitfalls" that can ensnare us, imprison us, and rob us of hope. My goal is to come alongside you when you feel "stuck," and help you find the key that unlocks the door to freedom. As we walk together my goal is to help you discover hope again as you find relief from painful emotional wounds and break free from unhelpful thought patterns and false core beliefs. You will also learn practical ways to control thoughts, urges, and emotions keeping you stuck in unwanted, destructive behavior patterns.

Our work together can cover a myriad of concerns, including
anxiety
, depression, OCD, faith struggles, life transitions, perfectionism, and trauma.
Reaching out for help requires vulnerability and courage. To honor that, I both (1) strive to foster a nonjudgmental, collaborative atmosphere where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace and (2) ensure that our work together is grounded in empirical evidence. I consider it a privilege to hear about people’s lives and be a part of their journeys. I have witnessed the significant pain that attends mental health issues and so have a great deal of compassion for individuals who are struggling. I firmly believe that people can find more peace and meaning in their lives and move toward their aspirations.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
