My strengths as a counselor include my ability to be authentic, share warmth, cultivate wisdom, and build connections. My therapeutic lens is person centered, existential, and behavioral; I can speak with insight and clarity to your essential questions about who you have been, who you are, and what you should do. I seek to partner with you in a process of discovery and productive therapeutic work. I find that sometimes the most important counseling goals emerge as sessions get underway and trust and rapport are built. The most important goals may be surprising and even liberating.

Whether struggling with addiction issues, codependency, grief, divorce, spirituality, anxiety, depression, or life transitions, I can help.
Whether going through life challenges, relationship struggles, or just finding yourself "stuck," one of the best things to help is to invest in yourself. Would you be willing to let someone come alongside you who is trained to listen more deeply, look at things that you may or may not have considered, and provide a safe place to be brave? Making life changes can be hard, difficult, and challenging but you do not have to go at it alone. Let someone come alongside you who wants nothing more for you than your absolute best!

I have had the privilege to guide women, men, and teenagers through anxiety, depression, coping with a family member’s addiction, college transitions, codependency, difficult relationships and more.
As a licensed therapist, I use research based techniques that are appropriate for you. As a Christian, I believe in God’s Sovereignty and His grace to carry us through even the most difficult moments in life; and I can offer a Biblical worldview if that is wanted. Note that Christian beliefs are only discussed if a client wants it included in their therapy.

I am an experienced therapist who has helped people heal from difficult life circumstances, depression, anxiety, trauma, and codependency.
Only one thing is certain....Change. But change is hard, no matter where it comes from. Unexpected changes like breakups, injuries, tragic news, and traumatic events can cause emotional struggles, anger and anxiety. You may feel that you don't know who to trust, where to go, or what to feel. Expected changes in life can also be difficult. Having children, dealing with death, divorce, life or aging transitions, or job changes, can also be difficult. Finally, sometimes we desire change, but don't know how to get there! When life changes happen, or need to happen, therapy can help. I would love to help you in this journey.

Presently, my main area of focus is ADHD, codependency, anxiety, and impacts of emotionally neglectful or immature parents.
If you find yourself on this site – you are likely looking for help. There is no problem too small or too large that counseling can’t help. Your life may feel disrupted from a new change or feel weighted by the same chronic feelings. You may feel objectively everything ‘should’ feel fine, and yet struggle to feel fulfillment. You may find yourself in a cycle of control trying to fix things on your own, only for more problems to come up. I would love to help you find what you are looking for and more! I practice telehealth only and can cover across Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas!

Some of my favorite issues/types to treat are codependency (mama/spouse/significant other), anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, college aged females, and addiction/recovery.
I might be biased, but I believe we all need a therapeutic, safe, reassuring place to process and heal. The beauty of therapy in my office is this is a neutral space, led by a highly credentialed professionals, with a passion to walk people through trying times. I love therapy. It can be life changing, if you will allow it. Reaching out can be tough but when you make the decision, you become open to all of the possibilities. After 20 years, I still love it. Let me help you. This process takes determination, consistency and strength. I believe you can do it.

I have further training in codependency, love addiction, emotional abuse, and antagonistic relational stress.
As emotional beings, we all have the same desires and fears for our relationships. We want to feel valued and accepted and avoid rejection and shame. These basic human needs can cause us to stay too long in unhealthy relationships (personal and professional), and oftentimes, turn us against ourselves in the form of self destructive behaviors and damaged self worth. As a counselor, my goal is to help empower individuals to examine their thoughts and behaviors so they can understand what is theirs and let go of what is not. "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate" -Carl Jung

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
