My strengths as a counselor include my ability to be authentic, share warmth, cultivate wisdom, and build connections. My therapeutic lens is person centered, existential, and behavioral; I can speak with insight and clarity to your essential questions about who you have been, who you are, and what you should do. I seek to partner with you in a process of discovery and productive therapeutic work. I find that sometimes the most important counseling goals emerge as sessions get underway and trust and rapport are built. The most important goals may be surprising and even liberating.

I have experience working with children, teenagers, and adults facing issues from anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, trauma and relational issues.
My primary focus in counseling is to meet people where they are, help them identify where they want to be, and enable them to accomplish their goals. I believe change is possible. I have witnessed my clients overcome and move forward after facing what seemed like insurmountable odds. Does it take work? Yes! But, is it worth it to become the individual (couple or parent) you want to be? Definitely!

If you or someone you love is suffering with anxiety, depression, trauma, women’s issues, parenting problems, child behavior problems, hard life circumstances, or just need someone to lend a warm, unbiased, non judgmental ear.
Are you ready to make some healthy life changes? Do you or your family need some loving support? Busy lifestyles and unhealed trauma can create problems in our lives that we didn't quite see coming! Calling a therapist and making an appointment is the first crucial step to self healing and I realize how hard that may be for you. The most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. Without trust and respect, the healing process can not take place. If your goal is to be your best self for you and your loved ones, I may be the perfect fit for you!

When you see me you don't have to worry about being judged!
Life is overwhelming. Whether it's your relationships, family, emotions, or career, it's getting harder to hold it all together. No matter how hard you try, you feel like a failure. Stop struggling on your own! I work with people who are ready to heal from the past to improve the present. If you have trouble managing your feelings and relationships, or if you have been late diagnosed with adult ADHD or autism (or suspect you are neurodivergent), I can help you begin to navigate life without shame. I also work with people who have experienced religious trauma or spiritual abuse and are deconstructing.

Using a client-centered approach, I work with adult clients struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, and phase-of-life difficulties.
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.“—Arthur Ashe. We all face difficulties in life and there is no universal “normal.” My goal is to provide a safe space for clients to express themselves without judgment, promote uncensored self-exploration, and uncover truths that might be difficult to face. Offering a different perspective and empathetic understanding can illuminate new pathways and possibilities that might not have been considered. Together, these elements can empower individuals to tap into their own inner strength and find their own way forward.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
