I am psychotherapist, licensed in professional counseling. As a native Mississippian who relishes the opportunity to provide services in my state. I began my educational journey with a psychology degree from the prestigious Tougaloo College and completed the journey with a doctorate in clinical psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, Missouri. Since 2013, I have the greatest privilege to be the psychotherapist for Open Arms Healthcare Center, known for being the first LGBTQ+ focused healthcare clinic in Mississippi. In 2015, Kerry Johnson Behavioral Health Services, Inc., located in the Historic Jackson Medical Mall healthcare district opened. Both practice locations, welcome all clients.

For many of us, day to day life has become overwhelming, a bombardment of information and responsibilities. It can be hard to remember our direction, to find the path to our goals. In therapy, I can help you emerge from the tangle of confusion, reactivity, and roadblocks to find the middleway. With 10 years experience as a community mental health therapist, and now in private practice, no issue is too large or too small to work through together. Therapy is a supportive place to build your strengths, to face your challenges, and hone your authentic self.

Dr. Nosen has been providing evidence-based assessment and therapy since 2005. She specializes in treating adults experiencing anxiety, posttraumatic stress, depression, insomnia, alcohol and substance use. She primarily works from a cognitive-behavioral approach, tailoring treatments to help you develop insight, learn new ways of coping, and plan strategic changes to help you meet your personal goals. Dr. Nosen is trained in several specialized types of therapy protocols.

The focus of our practice, is to assist adults, children, and families with obtaining relatable therapy, to reach goals. We assess situations in your life which contribute to current emotions behaviors and thought patterns. With child and adolescent clients our focus is similar, with the addition of close communication with the family. Moreover, with child and adolescents, we will focus on depression, impulsive behavior, limited attention span, oppositional/defiant behaviors, dishonesty, and social issues in school/home. Family and/or friends are welcome in your sessions for support. We do offer 430p-630p, and weekend appointments.

Dr. Barnes is a native Mississippian, earning his B.A. in Psychology from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS, and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. He has worked in academic, private, community, school, and state psychiatric settings as well as VA medical centers. Dr. Barnes completed his internship at the VA North Texas Health Care System followed by a fellowship at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, specializing in addictive disorders.

I am qualified to do this because of extensive training and duel license in both counseling and marriage and family therapy.
