Many of my clients either have a history of trauma or are currently experiencing anxiety and depression.
Many of us live our lives balancing one life event after another. All is well until that ONE MORE THING happens! Some people lash out on others or suddenly experience an overwhelming flood of emotions. Others lose interest in activities or have a change in their sleeping or eating habits. Coping with stress, relationship issues, and other life events may cause depression, anxiety, or other emotional responses. Many of my clients have been able to find better ways to cope with their "series of unfortunate events." Empowering clients to find positive strategies to COUNT IT ALL JOY again is at the heart of what I do.

Specialized training in Mood Disorders and Trauma.
Being a therapist motivates and give me purpose. Everyone experience life changes, but not everyone is prepared to manage the emotional, physical, social or financial changes that come with life changes. Feelings emotionally overwhelmed can affect the ability to make rational decisions. The inability to make rational decisions disrupts connection with self, reality, family and friends. As a Licensed Clinical social worker I am licensed to diagnose and treat. You are not alone and should never feel you are. I practice in an outpatient setting. My passion is helping patients move from a place of despair to optimism.

Could your Child Benefit from Play Therapy? Children are not tiny adults. Nervousness, frustration, and anxiety feel strange and scary to a small person who has very little experience dealing with big feelings. Play therapy is a treatment that helps children who are experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and relationship disorders to express their emotions, improve their communication abilities, and learn to solve problems. This kind of therapy respects a child’s unique developmental level and looks for ways of helping by observing and interacting with how they play, which is the natural expressive “language” of children.

Sometimes we need counseling to deal with people in our lives who have never been to counseling. It could be our parents, partners, friends... as humans, we only control our response to thoughts in our minds and feelings in our bodies, not other people. Our responses can be the difference between living in chaos and living in peace.

I'm an OCD and PTSD specialist, using evidence based approaches for each disorder.
Being unable to meet our goals is disappointing. Not knowing why is devastating. We seek answers on the outside and look to others for the "right" and the "wrong" of the situation, but everyone is different. Everyone has different approaches, and everyone has inner resources. The problem is not that you are flawed, incapable, or unable to achieve your goals. The problem is that you're simply having a little trouble accessing your strengths. Whether your issue is related to connection, depression, anxiety, or other life stressors, I am here to listen, to see you, and to understand. I am here to help.

Welcome, and thank you for being here. I’m proud of you for taking this first step on your healing journey. It’s not always easy, but just opening this message means you’re already moving forward. Sometimes sadness can feel like a heavy cloud that lingers overhead. Painful childhood experiences may continue to shape how you navigate the world today. But even in the midst of it all, there is space for growth, healing, and rediscovering the version of yourself that feels whole and empowered.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
