In working with clients my hope has always been to work with people who are asking for help. Working with people who struggle with mood disorders, relationship struggles, and those who simply want to get to know themselves better. Whether that is addressing self-esteem, purpose, addiction, helping others gain confidence or direction, my goal has always been to give people a better sense of who they are.

“I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to process your own story. Taking this journey can be scary to most people. Exploring through the most challenging seasons in our lives, opening chapters we choose to close to protect ourselves from ourselves and others, is emotionally exhausting. Facing these childhood or transgenerational experiences is tough. Oftentimes we may choose alternative coping m as addiction, gambling, bonding relationships, and other soothing methods to cope with unresolved trauma. You deserve a life that leaves you excited to wake up every morning. How can I help you in this journey?

We are conditioned to avoid pain and we think and behave in certain ways learned through our upbringing, culture and other life experiences. At times the way we interpret situations in our lives can impact the way we relate to others, especially our signifant other, in both a negative and positive way. Therapy gives us the opportunity to reflect on these experiences and interpretations of our world in order to recognize what no longer serves us. Sometimes all we need is the right guidance to get on the right course of action for growth.

Hello, I am Kammeron and I’m currently working toward my Ph.D. in Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake University. I have earned my Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work at Indiana Wesleyan University. I have over 10 years of experience in Coaching, the last three years have been in Behavioral Health/Social Work. My favorite quote is, “Broken things can be fixed and healed. Nothing is too difficult or dirty to clean,” by Marika McCoola. This quote has become my mantra and I have dedicated my life to helping those who are broken, hurt, and filled with hidden sorrow over life-changing events.

We are excited to announce that we will have an office in March of 2024. "If we are to strive as human beings to gain more wisdom, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one" -Goldie Hawn. In my experience, the acceptance of information can stretch the mind beyond it’s previous dimensions and can feel very challenging. However, overcoming these growing pains can make life purposeful.

Motivational Interviewing Therapists
How does motivational interviewing work?
Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.
Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?
Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.
How long does motivational interviewing last?
Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.
What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?
In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
