I specialize in life transitions such as retirement, divorce, and empty nest; and mood disorders, young adult issues, grief, loss, parenting, and step-families.
Most of us need help with relationship or personal challenges at some point in our lives. Sometimes we feel stuck in a bad situation, an important relationship begins to fail, or we can't seem to navigate a major transition or loss. Maybe anxiety or depression appears and just won't go away. I have helped hundreds of clients through difficult times like these with skill and compassion. In my practice, you will find a safe, non-judgmental place to share your thoughts and feelings, reach a deeper understanding of your problem, and find new ways of coping.

I walk alongside clients struggling with mood disorders, conflict resolution, grief, trauma, executive functioning, boundaries, delayed adolescence, addiction, spirituality, communication, identity, and personality disorders.
If you're looking for lasting change, more fulfilling relationships, and meaningful connection, then let's begin. Whatever brings you to therapy, there is hope. Together we will observe how the events in your life have formed deep rooted beliefs about how the world will respond to you. I believe that change happens in the context of relationships. Our therapeutic relationship will work to ease your distress and equip you towards transformation. We haven't been promised not to experience pain in this life, but I believe we are not meant to experience it alone.

As a social worker, I believe all individuals are the experts on themselves. We all ultimately know what’s best for us— we may just need help accessing that insight at times. I employ a dialectical approach to therapy while encouraging self-inquiry to promote a balance of acceptance and change among my clients. I use my training in CBT, ACT, DBT, and mindfulness to inform my therapeutic approach to treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, and difficult behaviors.

I specialize in mood disorders, life transitions, and helping folks sort through all kinds of relationships but I also am just as comfortable with trauma, grief, or broader existential concerns.
CURRENTLY FULL-WAITLIST ONLY. Life's struggles may be knocking you down but they don't have to knock you out. Asking for help sometimes takes a leap of faith but taking that first step can make all the difference in the world! I can help you build the emotional resourcefulness needed to break out of a cycle of anxiety and depression or self-destructive ways of coping. If you feel like you are avoiding life more than you are living it, stop the cycle by prioritizing your mental and emotional health. Therapy is a courageous decision and an investment in your long-term well-being. If you are ready, things can change.

My professional background includes work in the areas of relational/marital difficulties, PTSD/abuse, identity, anxiety, mood disorders, chronic illness/pain, and domestic violence.
Life can be painful and overwhelming. The courage to seek help is a sign of strength. Whether you are an adolescent, adult, or couple in crisis, experiencing transition, needing help with life struggles, or desiring emotional balance, I look forward to the privilege of walking alongside you. As a LPC, my approach to well-being is grounded in the philosophy that life difficulties are the result of aloneness and lack of healthy relational attachments. Aloneness manifests itself in a combination of physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual symptoms. Effective relief is achieved through attention to all aspects of the individual.

I have extensive experience working with adolescents, families, and adults who struggle with eating, substance use, mood, and anxiety disorders.
Sometimes our lives get to a point where we're just surviving, rather than thriving. In survival mode, we cope the best we can - this may mean using disordered eating behaviors, self-harm, substance use, self-criticizing inner talk, or self-destruction. I'm here to help guide you out of survival mode and into your best life. In therapy, we'll explore how you're surviving and how you can thrive. We'll identify changes you want and I will offer suggestions to help you create these changes. We will balance this change with lots of self-compassion.

I also have personal and professional experiences with depression and multiple ways and means to manage mood disorders.
If you have tried everything you can think of and are still stuck we might be a fit. Change begins with awareness of one's self. The only requirement is that I become willing to change the way I see myself, others, and my expectations about how life should be. Nearly all behaviour is learned and therefore can be considered for change. Present moment awareness and a non-judgmental perspective can create the potential to see deeply into one's needs and wants. Mood Disorders Therapists
Mood Disorder is a clinical term given to a group of diagnoses in the DSM IV guide where an imbalance in someone's mood (e.g. hyper or depressed) is the main underlying feature of their condition. Mood Disorder may also be referred to as Mood Affective Disorder. Two types of mood disorders (or mood affective disorders) are broadly recognized; there are depressive disorders, such as major depressive disorder (MDD), clinical depression or major depression. And bipolar disorder (BD), which used to be known as manic depression and is characterized by periods of mania or hypomania, interlaced with depressive episodes.

Seasonal Affective Mood Disorder or Seasonal Mood Disorder (SAD) is generally included within the former type/group as it's not characterized by hyper or manic moods.
