Finding a therapist who's the right fit can be stressful and time-consuming. Thank you for taking a minute to see if one of our therapists is right for you. You may be feeling stressed, worried, anxious, angry, hopeless - or all of the above! - and you just want to feel better. Maybe there's a problem you need to talk through, find some clarity around, and take action on. Or perhaps you're looking for someone who can help you clarify your goals, develop your potential, and bring your dreams into reality. In any case, we'd love to help!

Recently the world as we knew it was turned upside down. With the onset of Covid-19 and a "Safer at Home" order as well as school closures, parents are under more stress and pressure than ever. I am currently providing individual therapy and parent coaching via our secure video platform. If you find yourself having difficulty managing your frustration and/or anxiety, or feeling the enormous pressure of home schooling your children while keeping up with the other demands in your life (i.e. work, home responsibilities) do not hesitate to reach out. You do not have to figure this out alone.

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of therapy. Therapy is a great opportunity to work with someone who will provide you with a safe-space, support, and tools you need to create change. My role as a therapist is one of empowering my clients on their path to internal growth, self-love, and gaining a better understanding of themselves. The issues I work with are related to grief and loss, anxiety, transitions, maternal issues, depression, self-esteem, stress-management, parenting, and relationships.

Maybe you're struggling with anxiety, grief, or stress. Familial patterns or difficult relationships have you grasping for how to set and hold boundaries. You're an artist but are struggling with your chosen industry or considering a career change. You call yourself a "perfectionist" or "people-pleaser" and want to learn how to build self-compassion, let go, or increase your sense of agency. You're a couple wanting a change in your dynamic or looking to grow your communication skills. Regardless of what's bringing you to therapy, I commend you for showing up for yourself by taking this step.

"I've always considered it a privilege to listen to people's stories, helping them to understand themselves better, and in the process, to find the resources to resolve their problems. With over 20 years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist, and as a Marriage and Family Therapist earlier, I know how to help men and women of all ages get to the origins of their difficulties efficiently. My goal is to help them discover resources and new personal insights, which in turn open the way to resolving pain and conflict.

Hi and welcome! Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me and how I approach therapy. Life is more demanding and stressful these days than ever before. There are many ways people cope with personal challenges. Going to therapy is just one option. Therapy provides a unique opportunity to explore yourself, your relationships with others, and your goals and aspirations. My approach is simple: together, let's find practical ways to cope with personal issues and, if appropriate, let's look into how your past experiences have affected how you are currently coping. I will provide a safe space to explore this personal journey.

Today's world demands so much of us. The pressures to be everything, do everything, for everyone can cause stress, anxiety, and depression. We are human. And even the best of humans need support from time to time to bounce back from the challenges of life and live powerfully. It is time that you had a consistent partnership that focuses on your healing, growth, and emotional resilience.

I have worked as a clinical psychologist for over 40 years, specializing in psychodynamic and interpersonal insight therapy, primarily with young, mature, and older adults. Philosophically, I believe anyone can overcome obstacles to living a good life with the assistance of an experienced psychotherapist in the context of a supportive and empathic therapeutic relationship. I enjoy working with people who are highly motivated to take an honest look at themselves, their history and relationships, and who seriously want to make changes in their lives.

We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of anxiety and panic attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

Are you feeling isolated, or having difficulty connecting with others around you in a way that feels fulfilling and genuine? You may also feel like you're too much or not enough, and seek self-acceptance and freedom from judgement. You may also be an out-of-the-box thinker or a creative person who is struggling to feel accepted, loved, or trying to find your voice, your place, or your people in the world. You may be rethinking who and what you want in your life, including your family of origin. I can help you sort through what feels important to you.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Pasadena?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
