I became a psychologist because I wanted to learn the art of helping individuals at their pace and within their capacity. Through my work I understand the need to be genuine and compassionate, while being honest even in tough situations with difficult decisions. I work collaboratively with my clients and their families, ensuring I am present for each individual's needs. I work with my clients to develop their version of their best self.

You’re exhausted. You’re spending a lot of your time and energy managing feelings that are “too big,” ruminating about the past, and worrying about the future. You are able to get stuff done when you’re feeling "good" and motivated; however, as soon as your energy shifts, everything instantly becomes so much harder. Put simply, your mood runs the show. You are attuned to the environment around you and are hypersensitive to others’ feelings and judgments; as a result, you avoid doing things that might disappoint others, even if it’s at the expense of your own needs. You sometimes feel lonely, even when you are with other people.

Whether you're exploring gender or sexual identity for the first time, or have been out for 20 years, having a therapist that can relate to your experiences is vital. You may feel as though you didn't get the handbook of "how to human," or believe that there must be a secret ingredient that you've somehow been missing in order to feel better. It can be frustrating to feel as though you've tried everything just to be heard. If you've been taught to mask or hide your true self in order to survive in a world that constantly tells you that you shouldn't exist, it can be transformative to be seen and held as you are.

Seeking help amidst the sea of therapists out there is overwhelming to say the least, and one's mental health is so personal, it is hard to know who can help. Psychotherapy is a collaboration in pursuit of your growth and development. I hope to provide a safe and private space where you feel comfortable to talk about the matters of the heart that plague you. I believe you deserve nothing less than a respectful and ethical relationship where you can delve into the darker spaces inside that house some of your deepest pains and heartbreak.

Trauma, anxiety, and addiction can make you feel stuck. The most important step towards healing is to address the unresolved emotion inside you. Healing requires feelings. Acceptance slowly dissolves pain. When we function from the fear and scarring of our trauma, the cycles continue until we learn how to transmute that energy into love. I apply a Holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual forms of well-being, addressing the “whole” self. Through a holistic framework tailored to your unique needs, the goal is to support you develop a deeper understanding of the self on all these levels.

Welcome to my practice! I feel privileged to be in a position to guide people through various problems, in search of solutions and geared toward healthy living. I have learned that the most important component to creating a healthy therapeutic process is the meaningful relationships that we create along the way. I currently utilize a strength-based approach in my work with children, adolescence, and families-the focus of the work is identifying and building from the strengths of the individual. I value the collaborative effort that goes into developing a treatment plan; collaboration allows us to experience movement toward pathways of transformation.

I see couples all the time who love each other desperately but just can’t seem to make it work. Some couples put it this way: “It’s like we keep having the same fight over and over again and nothing ever gets resolved. We just have a big fight, followed by silence, and then we just go back to our daily lives without ever working through the issues until the next fight happens. I don’t know what’s happening or why it’s happening but it’s just awful.”

I enjoy helping young adults learn more about who they are and what they want out of this life. Setting boundaries, developing more positive self-talk, problem-solving, improving communication skills, and being authentic are all important factors to feeling like your best self. I tend to have more of a conversational, laid-back style and believe a sense of humor and some foul language in sessions can be incredibly therapeutic! I strongly believe that the therapist-client relationship is the number one reason for success in a therapeutic relationship, so it is important to me that you feel like we are the right fit.

If you are thinking about coming to therapy, chances are there is something going on that is prompting you to do so. Perhaps it is a stressful job or relationship; or you may be struggling with anxiety or depression. And, what may seem to be the "problem" on the surface could actually be related to something on a deeper level. As your therapist, I will work with you to try and understand what this deeper level is all about--all the thoughts, feelings and memories and the relationship they have to your current problem or situation.

You are exhausted. You have tried everything and you still don't feel right. No matter what you do you, you cannot reach a state of contentment. You soldier on day by day but feel like things are just get worse and worse. All you want to do is hide under the covers. Maybe you see that society is collapsing around you and think there is nothing you can do about it? Where can a person turn for help? You often wonder, is there a solution out there or will I have to try yet another intervention that doesn't work? Stop blaming yourself, much of this is a normal reaction to abnormal circumstances.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
