A central focus of my counseling practice is providing affirmative and anti-oppressive support to transgender, non-binary and gender diverse people of all ages, as well as the queer community more broadly. For some people, this might mean that you're actively questioning your gender identity, navigating transitioning or experiencing discrimination. For others, you might have unrelated mental health needs but want to know that you're in a space where your gender and sexuality won't be either ignored or overly focused upon, but just included as another aspect of your experience.

Although my practice is not limited to people who identify as LGBTQIA+, my specialty is working with transgender and gender non-conforming people and helping them address issues such as coming out to family and friends, navigating school or work issues, changing identity documents, and coping with the many social and emotional changes that transition brings. I also understand that transgender is an umbrella term that encompasses many identities and not all people wish to or can afford to medically transition. I meet people where they are and help them navigate where they want to go.

I am also Transgender and an active supporter of the work to strengthen the lives of persons who fit under GLBTQI umbrella.
I find that my skill and experience are very helpful to people who have survived trauma. I work often with folks who are burdened with emotional, physical, and sexually traumatic histories. I also welcome you to contact me if you are questioning your gender identity. I have assisted many people move through the difficult process of confirming their internal gender identity with the labels attached at birth. I also welcome you to come and chat if you are exploring an alternative family structure such as polyamory.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards feeling better! Just deciding to start therapy is a huge step towards healing. We can take the next steps together. I work primarily with queer, transgender, and gender non-conforming clients. Everyone deserves mental health care which is supportive and understanding of our unique culture, experiences, and needs. While my specialty is working with queer clients my skill set is applicable for helping other minority-identity clients. My approach is compassionate and non-judgmental.

I have served the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community both professionally and in volunteer work for almost thirty years, and am aware of many community resources which can help clients feel more connected and supported.
It is my honor to help you "be who you came here to be" by healing old survival skills, releasing old stories, and discovering the courage and strategies to help you step into manifesting change in your life. We'll collaborate in developing functional ways of getting your needs met, having healthy relationships, and creating your own new definitions of health, strength, and well-being. My transpersonal work includes creating ritual and healing ceremonies, developing an authentic and rich connection to Source as you understand it, and a variety of shamanic healing practices.

I believe therapy should be a place where you can be your genuine self, free from judgement to think and feel outloud. I love providing the space for my clients to talk openly, work through current issues, and resolve past traumas. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral, emotions-focused, and solutions-focused therapy approaches. As a registered art therapist, I may suggest the use of art in therapy to aid with our process. I offer many years' experience treating those experiencing panic attacks, bipolar symptoms, and adult adhd, but specialize in aiding those struggling with identity crises and divorce.

Hello, I’m Felicia, and I’ve been working with children and their families for more than 12 years. I’m passionate about helping people live their best lives through discovering their inner resources and helping families develop the skills and systems that work for them. I also work with adults who present with a variety of issues; however, they must feel comfortable in an environment where toys and art supplies abound. I’m here, and I can help whenever you’re ready.

Currently taking new clients. I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, ptsd, and other challenges. My focus has been on ensuring that effective therapy is available for individuals, families, and adolescents from all walks of life. As a white-passing, enrolled member of the Ponca tribe who has spent 8 years in the US Army and identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand some of the lived experiences that often leave people feeling misunderstood and disconnected from the people around them, and I understand how to guide you through many ways we can move you toward a healthier, more satisfying life.

“In a society that profits from self doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act”. At Rebellious Wellness you will be encouraged to be your authentic self. Therapy can be terrifying and opening up to a stranger takes courage. Therapy does not mean something is wrong with you, but in order for therapy to work you must bear your soul and be willing to talk about the things that hold you back, whether it be trauma, depression, anxiety or any other issue you are facing. Let’s be honest, life can be shit sometimes, but I want to help you navigate through that shit and heal so that you can live the life you deserve.

Are you struggling with anxiety? Grief? Your identity or self-esteem? Are you an adoptee or adoptive parent navigating the adoption triangle? Life has curve balls that can greatly impact our personal and professional lives; that can make us retreat, isolate, and see ourselves in a negative light. This, in turn, can lead into deeper struggles and us not feeling like ourselves anymore. Yet, that's not the end of your story! You have a purpose and deserve to live a beautiful, happy and fulfilled life where you feel confident and equipped to overcome that inner darkness.

Transgender Therapists

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?

A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?

Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?

An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?

Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
